It wasn’t anything else. She had to know that the man who saved her was safe.
Mac literally tripped over him, the snow was falling so thick. “Fuck me,” he muttered, turning to figure out what it was that had snagged him. The custom jacket now sticking out of the snow had him cursing a streak. “Tryg, I have him,” he said, quickly rolling the Wolf over to his back as he checked for injuries. “He’s unconscious, broken arm, dislocated shoulder, big-ass gash in his leg that thankfully isn’t bleeding him dry.” Thank you, sub-zero temperatures.
“I’m heading for the truck. Grab him and move him there. We’ll stick him in the back and bandage him and head for base. We can’t stay out much longer or we’ll be buried ourselves,” Tryg said into the comms. The storm seemed to be getting even worse, the winds driving the snow and making it even harder to keep sight of the truck.
“Got him,” Mac sent back after slinging Zaidu over his shoulder. “Heading back to the truck.”
Bethany watched them coming back. They walked out of the snowy fog like three wounded soldiers. “There,” she cried and moved over in the seat, pulling one of the blankets off of her and the other as well. It would get him warmer faster if she wrapped them both in the blankets. “Here, put him here,” she cried to the large man carrying Zaidu over his shoulder. As soon as he was on the seat at her side and the door closed again she tugged him out of his jacket and then wrapped him into the blanket, pulling off his shirt and hers as well before wrapping her body against the large man’s, all but sitting in his lap as she wrapped the second blanket around them as well. “Can you crank up the heat please?” The warmer they could get him, the faster they could get him better.
“It’s up all the way,” Tryg said, shaking out the parka before he jumped behind the wheel. “The temperature’s so low right now we’re battling the chill sitting here. We’ll get warmer once we’re moving again.” He hoped. “We need to bind his leg,” he told her as Mac began doing just that after tearing the jeans up above Zaidu’s knee to gain access. Once that was done and they were all in the vehicle Tryggr got them moving, throwing a look in the back occasionally.
Bethany felt strange, her naked upper portion pressed to his naked upper portion, but she didn’t let it bother her. She had to help him get warm. Needed him to get warm. When he began to stir she whispered, “Shh, you are safe. You saved me, now let me help you live, too, okay? I’m trying to get you warm but you need to stay still with me, okay?” she asked quietly.
Z felt damned tired. He ached everywhere and his skin was stinging slightly. Sliding a hand up, he pressed his palm to her back to hold her closer to him. Turning his super-heavy head slightly, he nuzzled at her hair until he found skin. Breathing her in he relaxed and let her body warm his up. It was very pleasant and he kind of hoped it would be a long, long ride wherever it was they were going.
Bethany moved him so that he was lying on the backseat and she on top of him. She knew how silly it was but she was trying so hard to get him warm, needed him warm. “Shh, just be still. I’m just trying to get you warm,” she whispered quietly to him, moving so that he could do what it seemed he wanted to do, nuzzling the side of her neck and breathing her in.
Z was glad the female was being accommodating. Her scent was sublime. Sliding his other arm around her, Zaidu pulled her in closer to him. Rubbing his nose to her neck, he inhaled, a small smile on his lips. Then they hit a bump and things came rushing back in, along with all the aches in his body. Growling softly, he squeezed her closer to him and tried to focus on her instead of the throbbing pains making themselves known.
“Is he awake?” Tryg asked as he kept his eyes glued to the road.
“Yeah and I think that he’s hurting.” Pulling back,
