around her, and for that reason, he just needed to stay away. He had worked too hard, and for too long, fighting against the pull to become as hateful as the fallen angel that started his bloodline, to lose it all over a little pixie.
Ramiel was supposed to be a superior angel; he was one of the Grigori for crying out loud. He began as a seeker of souls, and was of great importance, because he led souls to the gates of heaven when they passed. God also regarded him as the Angel of whirlwinds, thunder, and earthquakes, and he was known as the “Thunder of God”.
It made sense that when two hundred angels decided to descend upon Earth at Mt. Herman, Ramiel was picked to go with and look after things. Granted with the ability to give “true vision” to any mortal of his choosing, it was said that he marveled at the opportunity.
Ramiel had always truly appreciated mankind, and once engulfed, it didn’t take long for him to succumb to the temptations and sins that humans couldn’t resist themselves. He became intimate with women and grew obsessed with material possessions, therefore inviting evil into his soul.
Obviously Gemariah wasn’t as different as he would have liked, by living the lustful life he did. However, Ramiel was known for his volatile personality; carefree one moment, and then would rip your throat out the next. Gemariah, hoping not to fall in the same footsteps, took pains to prevent any aggressive behavior on his part; hence, why it was best for everyone if he stayed away from Nicole.
“Shit! Son of a Bitch!” He shook off his burned hand and gripped it into a fist before using his other one to put the skillet in the oven. That’s what I get for letting my mind wander , he thought.
As he waited for that to finish cooking, he poured himself a glass of orange juice and sat at the table with the morning paper he had grabbed on his way in. Looking down at the front page, there was a picture of the little girl that had been missing. Without reading, he flipped it open, looking for what he wanted.
Local news… flip. World news… flip. Classifieds… flip. Obituaries… flip. “Ah-ha!” Pulling free the comics, he pushed the rest away. Sitting back, he settled in to wait for his food.
It wasn’t too much longer when he heard the oven beep, and he got up to get his food. As he opened the oven, a wonderful aroma filled the room, and he knew it was going to taste even better.
He let it cool before cutting himself out a piece. Just as he was about to put a bite into his mouth, his phone started to ring. With a frustrated sigh, he placed the fork down and reached for his phone. His stomach growled in protest, but he changed his attitude when he saw who it was.
A devilish smile came over his face as he answered the call. “Hey, Babe. Don’t tell me you miss me already.”
“Gemariah…” The female voice came through as annoyed, but he could hear the laughter in it as well.
“Wait!” He stopped her before she said anything else. In his most sultry voice, he continued, “Before we go any further… What are you wearing?”
“Hmm, let’s see… jeans, a sweatshirt, sneakers, oh… and my wedding ring.”
He shook his head, and let out a loud sigh. “Trinity, I don’t think you understand how this is supposed to work.”
“She understands perfectly how it works, and continually tells me, her husband, what I like to hear.” The deep voice that came over the phone was definitely not Trinity.
Gemariah just laughed at his friend’s sour attitude. Malachi had just learned recently how Gemariah introduced himself to Trinity months ago. Needless to say, he was not happy, and was still trying to get over it. It’s only natural to come on to your friend’s girl to make sure she won’t stray… right? “Why, Mal, I had no idea you were home.”
The lie was extremely exaggerated. Of course, he knew Malachi was there. He also knew with his friend’s sensitive hearing, nothing he said would
