slightly, I was wondering where you come from?â
âThe planet I come from is named Terspheriton, or at least that is the translation into the language you speak. Although different, my planet works in much the same way as yours. We have scientists and governments, we have homes and we have vegetation. We also have the same struggles your planet faces; crime, corruption. But thereâs something about Earth and the human race. I feel as if this is my home, this is where I belong.â
âAnd what do your kind look like exactly? Do you all have special abilities?â
âOn average, I would say that my kind are between four and five feet tall. Our complexion is a light grey. In general, we are a slender race. Our heads are larger than that of humans, we have larger eyes and our brains are thousands of years in advance of yours â no offence meant. Our arms are long, our fingers reach down to our knees, and we only have four fingers on each hand. Other than that, weâre quite similar.â Draylon smiled, taking a sip of his drink. He enjoyed sarcasm and dry humour, and found he liked making people smile and laugh. He went on, âas for special abilities, we can all communicate telepathically. It makes it hard to keep secrets though. Some of us can heal and self-heal and some of us can utilise telekinetic powers. There are lots of different abilities on my planet and I was lucky enough to be created using the best of them â only I didnât have a proper family, so my abilities came with sacrifices.â
âWhy are you here? Why do your kind visit? Sorry about all of the questions,â Paul took a large mouthful of his roasted chicken.
âWeâve been visiting for thousands of years, collecting intelligence and observing. Some of your technologies are very different from ours, so there is much to learn. I wanted to visit because I have this longing, like I belong here. Itâs hard to explain, but after all, I do look entirely human, so I do kind of stand out on my planet.â
âThis is really strange. Obviously that youâre a hybrid and this is surreal, but also because Iâve always avoided people in my life â probably because I lost my parents, and my grandparents died when I was still relatively young. Deep down though, Iâve always been sad; Iâve wanted friendship and love in my life, but have been afraid that I would lose it again, so I put up this wall around me. Now here I am opening up, and I now have someone I can call a friend. Itâs been a strange couple of weeks, thatâs for sure, but I wouldnât change a thing. I feel that something has woken up in me and now Iâm finally starting to live.â
âThis is only the beginning.â Draylon finished off his baked crepe and washed it down with his sparkling water.
âWell, Iâm tired, so I think Iâm going to head back to the hotel. Are you coming?â
âYes, but I think I may go out for a run in a while though â make sure that the streets are safe for women and children.â He said the latter in jest, but wondered if anyone did want any help tonight; he toyed with the idea of being more, helping those in need of help, and maybe anonymously being a beacon for good.
Paul made his way up to their room. He fancied watching a little television, and then getting a good nightâs sleep. He was exhausted by the events in the last 24 hours. Draylon said goodnight and then went out for his run. He thought heâd run around the outskirts of the city and see what was about. When he finally made his way past the crowds of people on The Strip, he found the air was starting to get fresher. He was taking deep, slow breaths and finding his pace. His pulse slowed and he was running along at a fairly fast pace and felt as if heâd never tire. He was running on the outskirts of the city, weaving around some of the back streets, when he heard a
