ea. Listen while I think of some E words...

ourselves with these words. How about EXCITING, EGGS, ELEPHANT, ELF. There are
so many E words. Letters in the mailbox come in ENVELOPES. Let us do some
EXERCISES. Where shall we EXPLORE today? Shall we take the ELEVATOR or the

At some point you can start sounding out
with your babe, the letters and words that appear every day whether on a cereal
box, a magazine, a newspaper or the sign on the side of a passing truck. He
will see and recognize some of the letters and the noise that they make. He
won't get all of the letters, but this will be a great beginning and learning
opportunity for further progress which is coming. Tell him that reading is just
like putting together a jig saw puzzle. It is fun and it is so easy. Why not
check out the comic pages in the Sunday paper. Sound out a few of the words.
With every success, show him how happy and proud you are. Say " you are
learning so quickly, what a smart boy/girl, I am so proud of you, you are
amazing etc." The next day and remember that there is no rush.  You can
start on a new letter. Remember that just a few minutes a day are all that is
needed. Don't let this become tedious or expect too much too soon. They know
when you are frustrated or aggravated......NEVER let it get to this point.  It
is so fun and endearing to see them
