Bailey for her reaction. “There are a lot of little things like, that she never helped with the chores around the house, she was more worried about hanging with her friends than being at home. She never considered anyone but herself in any decision she made. But that’s not going to win me the prize of worst relationship,” I say as I lean back into my chair. “This actually goes back to college before we were married. Senior year. She cheated on me, a lot,” I glance at Bailey as she gasps. I wasn’t sure if she knew about it or not. “I confronted Jessica about it after we graduated and she promised she’d stop. Guess the joke was on me.”
No one says anything. Everyone just stares at me. Bailey looks at me with sorrow in her eyes then says “Well, you won the lull, Andrew.”
Everyone’s eyes turn to Bailey. The boys all start laughing and cheering and Ella asks, “What in the Hell are you talking about?”
“In college we used to play the Lull Game. Anytime a group of people are talking and there’s a lull in the conversation, the last person who talked wins the lull,” Bailey explains while looking around for our waiter, “which means we get a round of shots, on Andrew.”
And just like that, Bailey is able to make everyone forget about my horrible story that probably shouldn’t have been brought up in this setting and makes everyone start having a good time again. She used to do it all the time. She just has a way about her. She was always going out of her way to help others. As everyone orders another round of drinks and a shaker of shots, I look meaningfully at Bailey. She winks at me then her look becomes sultry.
The evening is coming to an end but I don’t want to leave Bailey’s company. Ella goes to the bathroom and Jake and Sam are having an argument about whose turn it is to pay when I notice Bailey is looking at me. I smile at her as I lean in and say, “I don’t want to leave you yet.”
“I don’t want the night to end either.”
After a beat I ask quietly, “Come home with me.”
This has been one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time. I’m just thinking that I’m not ready to go home when he voices my desire. I nod a smile at him when he asks me to go home with him.
Go home with him? Oh my.
“I need to go to the bathroom first.” I slowly get up from my seat and grab my purse. In the bathroom, Ella starts rambling to me when I walk through the door.
“Well, that was a fun night. Those boys are hot. Maybe I’ll go out with one of them again, but which one to choose?” She asks as she brushes through her hair. “Andrew certainly has a hard on for you.”
I stand there and stare at her not knowing what to say. I can’t believe I really said I’d go home with him.
“What’s your problem?” Ella asks as she reapplies some lipstick.
“He asked me to go home with him,” I say still stunned he even asked.
Ella spins on her heel and is on me in a matter of seconds. “What do you mean he asked you to go home with him?” Ella asks in surprise.
Still in a daze, I don’t answer until she shakes my shoulders. “He said ‘I don’t want to leave you yet, come home with me.’”
“Holy shit, what did you say?” She drops my shoulders and sits on the sink waiting for my answer.
“Nothing, I just nodded my head. What have I done? I can’t go home with him. Why did he even ask me?” I ask shaking my head. This having fun stuff is going to be harder than I thought.
“Obviously he wants more of what he got out in that parking lot. What did happen out there?”
“Some kissing, really nice kissing. I stopped him,” The smile on my face is hard to hide. It was really nice kissing. Ella jumps up from the sink again.
“You stopped him? Why in the hell did you do that?”
“Ella, we were in a parking lot. How far could we have gone in a parking lot?”
“I can think of plenty of things you can do in a parking lot. You’re going to fuck him
