cream loveseat with red satin pillows and he smiled, ignoring Lindsey’s plea.
“Make yourself at home, my love ,” Kyle encouraged in a golden voice. “Now, no more talk of your parents or the boy. You are mine now, as you should be.”
With a fake smile, Lindsey nodded and took a seat upon the sofa. She watched Kyle disappear into the kitchen again and relished being alone once more. Kyle made her feel odd, Lindsey assumed it was fear, but it felt different to how she would normally feel when she was afraid. Then again, this situation was entirely different to any other she had ever faced. She had never been so dominated before.
Lindsey stared out into the darkness surrounding the conservatory, surprised by how quickly the light of day had faded. Winter was truly here.
She frowned to herself, wishing she was home and curled up in her own bed. How she longed to be home again; to be safe.
The glass door of the conservatory beckoned Lindsey from the sofa. She gently bit down on her lip, taking slow, silent steps towards the door. She grasped the golden handle, holding it for a second before she tried to push down. However the door was locked; Kyl e had already beaten her to it.
Lindsey was about to return to the sofa in defeat, but then something in the corner of her eye moved. She froze. Slowly Lindsey turned to look outside again, searching through the darkness of the garden. Something…someone moved outside, coming closer to the glass until Lindsey could see their face. Had someone come to rescue her? She prayed that it was so.
However when Kyle’s pale face appeared at the window, Lindsey could feel her heart sinking in her chest. She looked away, taking in a deep sigh. Her hopes were dashed again.

Kyle dragged over the large barrel Lindsey had seen out the front of the house. He sat it a few meters away from the window, where Lindsey could watch closely. As she peered through the glass, Lindsey saw Kyle throw her clothes in the barrel. She had no idea what he was doing, not until he revealed a lighter from his pocket and was reaching into the barrel.
Lindsey’s mouth dropped open as flames began to dance from the barrel. She couldn’t believe it; Kyle was burning her clothes. She turned away, feeling true despair grip her stomach, clenching her guts tightly. Kyle had sent her a clear message by making her change and burning her o wn clothes. The life she knew before was gone, that bridge was burned away, and now she belonged to him.

By the time the clothes were ashes, Lindsey’s pale face had been soaked with hot, salty tears. She lay in a curled up ball on the hard wooden floor, cradling herself as she sobbed erratically. She was too busy consoling herself, that she did not notice Kyle making his entry by the kitchen.
He leant against the doorframe, watching her with an unfaltering gaze as her chest rose and fell with deep breaths. Then her eyes caught his. Kyle smiled arrogantly.
“I hope you understand what I am trying to tell you, Lindsey,” he said in a low voice.
Lindsey was caught by his eyes, captivated by the authoritative power he held over her. He was commanding and strong, like no man she had ever met. He frightened Lindsey and yet at the same time she had never felt so alive in her life in his hands.
He strode to her side, taking a seat beside her. His eyes never left Lindsey, even when she finally looked away, settling her gaze on the floor.
“Well?” Kyle questioned. He reached out, snatching her face in his hand to gently force her to look at him once more. “Do you understand, Lindsey Noble ?”
Her full name sounded different on his lips. It was like he was mocking her by using it.
Finally Lindsey nodded in reply and met Kyle’s eyes with her own.
“Come with me, Lindsey,” Kyle said suddenly.
He grabbed her hand, pulling her from the conservatory. Lindsey went without a struggle, knowing that she could never fight
