wolf standing
in the shadows, eyes narrowed in hatred. Shortly after they entered
Billy Rae’s, the male entered as well.
Delia and Nicolai enjoyed their dinner at
Billy Rae’s. Halfway through dessert, two of her female Lost Souls
pack mates came up to the table. They were surprised to see Delia
happy and smiling. Even more so, they noted the way her male smiled
lovingly at his mate. The females approached the table with great
care, fearing he might strike out at them for interrupting his meal
with his mate.
Nicolai greeted them warmly and invited them
to join their table. Speechless, they sat down on either side of
Delia.
“Sue Ann, Mila, this is Nicolai, my mate,”
Delia introduced him proudly.
“I’m guessing you want to check up on my
mate. Why don’t you order dessert and spend some time together?”
Turning to Delia, “I will finish my dessert in the back. I need to
make a few calls anyway. You will be safe here. Do not leave Billy
Rae’s without me. If you need me, I will be in the office. You can
ask any of the waitresses and they will bring you to me. Why don’t
you invite your friends for a visit tomorrow? They can keep you
company while I run a few errands.” She nodded, grateful for the
chance to visit with her friends. She kissed him when he leaned
over and watched him walk to the back of the restaurant.
“You smell of him. He forced you?” Delia
turned back to her friends and shook her head. Leaning towards
them, she spoke softly.
“I wanted him to touch me, practically
begged him. He was gentle and loving. He gave me an orgasm. It was
so incredible. I never knew sex could be like that. I enjoy it.”
“He didn’t hurt you?”
“No. In fact, last night he didn’t even want
me to….He gave me pleasure and expected nothing in return. We
didn’t have sex until this morning, only because I wanted to.” Her
friends were speechless.
“Then today he took me shopping. Bought me so
many clothes! More clothing than I’ve ever had before in my life !” Her friends exchanged worried glances.
“And what will he expect in return?”
“Nothing. He wants to provide for me. It
makes him happy.”
“Are you sure? Has he given you to the Alpha
yet?”
Delia paled. Suddenly she was uncertain. So
far this pack had been different. But males were males. She was
sure the Alpha would demand sex from his females, as Murdock had.
She knew things had been too good to be true. There was always a price to pay. Unable to finish her dessert, Delia
made plans to see her friends the next day and asked a waitress to
take her to Nicolai.
Delia’s former male sat at the table, still
angry at Delia and Nicolai. He watched as the soldier doted on his
female, spoke kindly to her, made her laugh. Delia was relaxed
instead of tense with fear. Her mate left her with her friends and
shortly after, she went after him. She couldn’t stand to be apart
from him? His jealousy fueled his anger and he gripped his glass,
crushing it into tiny pieces. Shards of glass sliced into his
fingers and palm. Hastily, he wrapped it in a napkin and left. Once
outside, he took out his cell phone and called Theo. They arranged
to meet across the street from Nicolai’s house.
Nicolai glanced up and smiled when his mate
entered the small office. She stood by the door, and he waved her
in. She closed the door and waited for him to finish his call. He
spoke a few words then hung up.
“That was the Alpha. He wishes to see us
tomorrow evening.”
Delia held her breath, fear returning. She
knew it was too good to be true, that she would be free of pain and
humiliation.
“What’s the matter, Little One?”
Concerned at the suddenly intense scent of
pain, Nicolai rose and pulled his mate into his arms. She cried
softly.
“I don’t want him to hurt me when he has sex
with me.”
“WHAT?”
“The Alpha. That’s why you are taking me
there tomorrow, isn’t it? He is asking for his turn with me.”
Nicolai stared at his mate in
