horror. He
cursed, wishing he could have killed Murdock himself.
“No male will ever touch you but me. I
will kill anyone that does. Understand?” She nodded, wiping
away her tears.
“Murdock was a real bastard. If Zane hadn’t
already killed him, I’d do it myself. Lucien isn’t like him at all.
He is honorable. He would never demand to touch you. Besides that,
he loves his mate. And you don’t know Lanie. If he even thought of touching another, she would probably castrate
him.”
“But she’s a human. He’s much stronger than
she is.” Nicolai chuckled.
“If I’ve learned anything, it’s to never underestimate a female, especially one deeply in love.
It’s not really an issue because mated males find the touch of
another repulsive. You will begin to feel that way yourself. Know
this, Little One, I will never touch another female. You are the only one I want. You’re the only one that
can satisfy me.”
Believing him, her fear abated.
“Then why does he want to see us?”
“Actually, I think that Lanie wants us to
join them for dinner. I guess she wants to make sure you’re happy
and that I am spoiling you enough. Lucien is a good Alpha, but he
would rather be fucking his mate than sharing a meal with us.”
Satisfied he had eased her worries, he kissed her and took her
home.
Nicolai parked their car on the street in
front of their home and got out. He walked around to Delia’s side
and opened the door for her. Delia smiled, still unaccustomed to
being treated as a lady.
Nicolai escorted her to their front door and
let her in.
“I’ll start unloading the car. Why don’t you
get the lights?” Delia nodded at the suggestion and went inside.
Nicolai returned to the car, opening the trunk with the car remote.
He pocketed the remote and began gathering her packages.
Arms full, he walked towards his home. He
took a few steps and caught the scents of three unfamiliar wolves.
He dropped the packages and spun around to face three Lost Souls
wolves. He recognized Delia’s male and growled a warning. The three
former Lost Souls wolves growled low in response, moved to surround
him, then attacked.
Theo jumped on Nicolai’s back, pushing him
slightly forward as Delia’s male swung his fist. He connected with
Nicolai’s jaw the same time Jacob punched Nicolai in his side.
Nicolai grunted from the pain in his side and
jaw. He growled and snapped his head backward, breaking the nose of
the wolf on his back.
Theo saw stars as the back of Nicolai’s head
connected with his face. He heard a crunch as his nose broke and
felt sticky wetness on his face. He released Nicolai, dropping on
the ground behind him. He held his nose, momentarily dazed,
growling in pain.
Nicolai’s wolf eyes flashed as he swung at
Delia’s male. His claws extended and he slashed deep into the
male’s chest.
“Ahh!” he screamed in pain, clutching his
chest as tiny rivers of blood ran down his shirt. Before he could
blink, Nicolai spun around and leaped on Jacob. They fell to the
ground and Nicolai punched him several times in the face and chest
before slicing his neck with a sharp claw. Blood spurted out of the
severed jugular and Jacob clasped his neck in a futile attempt to
stem the blood flow. Knowing the wolf would be dead in minutes
since he severed his jugular, Nicolai rose and turned to Theo.
Theo’s shock wore off and he shifted into his
wolf. He growled loudly, baring his fangs. As Nicolai turned, he
pounced, jaw clamping tightly onto Nicolai’s left arm. The momentum
knocked Nicolai onto his back, Theo-wolf still clamped securely on
his forearm. Nicolai growled and slashed Theo-wolf’s eyes. Blinded,
his eyes stinging with pain, Theo-wolf released Nicolai’s arm as he
struggled to stand. At once, Nicolai grabbed his jaw with his left
hand, the fur on the top of his head with his right hand and
twisted in a clock wise motion. The loud snap of Theo-wolf’s neck
breaking echoed loudly in the silent night. His
