away.”
“You better.” I pulled her to my chest and lay in the darkness with her. We were supposed to go back to my apartment but it didn’t matter where we were. As long as we were together, I was happy.

    Sean
I invited the guys to my place so we could plan the bachelor party. Scarlet picked up the hot wings, pizza, and fries so we’d have something to eat. When they came over, they immediately downed the beer and demolished the food. I liked eating out once in a while, but I preferred Scarlet’s cooking more than anything else.
“So, what do we do?” Mike asked. “Vegas?”
“We already went there for Sean’s bachelor party— or him and Scarlet’s.” Cortland sipped his beer and his eyes suddenly turned dark, probably thinking about Monnique being on that trip.
“It’s not like Vegas is exclusive to people,” Mike said. “It’s just a party city.”
“Staying here might be easier,” I said. “I mean, it’s still New York.”
Scarlet rolled her eyes. “Or you could just go fishing like he asked.”
    “But…isn’t that lame?” Cortland asked.
“My brother used to be a party animal but he’s not like that anymore,” Scarlet said. “I think it’d mean a lot to him if you guys went fishing.”
We all looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
Mike spoke up. “I really don’t want to go to a strip club. Honestly, if we go, I’m not stepping inside one.”
    “Why?” Sean asked.
“I’m gonna be a dad. I can’t do shit like that anymore.” Mike drank his beer then leaned back in his chair. “Plus, I’m practically married…it’s just creepy.”
I didn’t want to go to one either, but I’d play along so Ryan could have a good time. But I already had a whore that did nasty thing s to me every night. There wasn’t much to see at a place like that. “Yeah, I don’t really want to go either.”
    “Me either,” Cortland said.
Scarlet smiled. “It sounds like you guys are fishing.”
I shrugged. “I guess that’s cool. Where should we go?”
“Maybe we should rent a cabin somewhere, like in Colorado, and stay there for like a week,” Cortland said. “We could do some serious fishing.”
“No,” Mike and I said at the same time. We both looked at each other and raised an eyebrow.
“My girl is pregnant,” Mike said. “I can’t leave her that long and be that far away. Sorry.”
“I’m not going to leave Scarlet,” I said.
Cortland didn’t have anything to say. He had no one to leave behind.
Scarlet rolled her eyes. “You guys are so lame. Go have a good time. Cassandra and I can look after ourselves.”
“Nope,” Mike said. “I won’t change my mind.”
“Even if she stayed here with me?” Scarlet asked.
“What the hell are you going to do to protect her?” Mike asked.
“Janice will be here,” she said. “And she can protect the both of us. Seriously, go have a good time. It’ll be nice to have a break from you guys.”
    “Thanks,” I said sarcastically.
“Well, you’re constantly trying to do me like a damn rabbit,” she snapped. “I can barely walk most of the time.”
I glared at her. “You’re the one who fucks me harder than I fuck you.”
“This pizza just got gross,” Cortland said.
“Are you the best man?” Mike asked.
“Me?” Cortland asked. “I don’t know. He hasn’t said anything to me.”
“Then it’s going to be me,” I said.
“No, it’s not,” Mike said firmly.
“Why would he pick you?” Scarlet asked.
    “Because we’re close,” I said.
“Closer than him and Cortland?” Scarlet asked incredulously. “I don’t think so.”
    “Whatever,” I said. “You’ll see.”
“You’re going to feel like an idiot,” Mike said.
“And you look like an idiot,” I jabbed.
“Good one.” Mike rolled his eyes.
Scarlet sat down with us and sipped her water. “How’s the dating going?” Her question was directed at Cortland.
“Umm…I haven’t actually had one yet,” he said
