outgoing one. He was always flirting, always trying to get himself a girlfriend. I didn’t know who he was trying to kid though. It was starting to become obvious that he had a thing for Stace.
When I’d lost Ash, I’d found these three. We’d grown together over the past few years, formed a band and changed our images together. They’d been there when I needed them, and Ash had no right to barge into my house and insult them.
Ash snorted. “In a few years’ time you lot will still be living at home and getting your mother to do your laundry. If you somehow manage to find an actual job, pumping my gas will be the highlight of your career.”
My mouth fell open and I glanced behind me to see the see the offended looks on Eddie’s and Riley’s faces. Stace, on the other hand, looked plain angry. This was not going to end well.
“What the hell did you say?” Stace stood up very quickly and was beside me in a second, ready to take Ashton on. “You think you’re so much better than us with your expensive clothes and your plastic personality?”
Ash’s gaze flickered over to Stace and she smirked. “No, I don’t think I’m better than all of you. I just think I’m better than you. At least these guys are doing something . You’re just sitting around like a stalker, watching them play.”
Stace let out a hiss like an angry cat and took a step forward. I knew she wouldn’t hesitate to punch Ashton in the face. What Stace didn’t know was that back when we’d been kids, Ash could beat me in a fight. The girl knew how to hold her own.
The situation had to be diffused before it got completely out of hand.
I held out an arm to stop Stace from getting any closer to Ash. “The only bottom feeder here is you, Ashton. We’re going to play our music, we’re going to play it so loud that your ears bleed, and then we’re going to play some more. So, kindly, get the hell outta here.”
I placed a hand on Ash’s shoulder and steered her out of the garage, kicking the door shut behind me. Ash shrugged off my hand and whirled around, her face bright red. Despite that, she still looked totally hot.
“How dare you speak to me like that! You and your loser friends—”
Anger rushed through me and I pinned her against the wall. “Don’t you dare talk about them like that, you stuck up little snob.”
“Let go of me!” She tried to free herself from my grasp, but I pressed my body against her to stop her from moving.
“I’ll let you go if you say sorry for what you said in there.” I tried very hard to focus on what we are arguing about, because I was quickly becoming distracted by her body wriggling against mine.
The look Ash shot me was full of contempt. “In your dreams. I will never apologize to those Satanists.”
“When did you become such a bitch, Ash? When did other people start meaning so little to you? You can’t walk into my house and treat my friends like shit. You’ve changed so much; you’re fucking messed up.”
“And you haven’t changed? Look at you.” She looked me up and down in disgust as she continued to squirm. “You dress like a complete freak, your hair is black, you have tattoos all over your body, yet you say I’ve changed. You’re delusional.”
Her comment was like a slap in the face. “Just because I look different doesn’t make me a freak, but it makes you shallow. And I happen to like my hair black.”
“I am not shallow, you disgusting person!” Ash cried, her eyes blazing. “Now, get off me!”
Frustration and anger surged through me, and I did the one thing I knew would really mess with her mind—the only way to win this argument and get her to shut her freaking mouth.
    I kissed her.
And not one of those delicate, gentle kisses either. This one was heated and full of passion, fuelled by the tension that’d built up between us. I hadn’t meant to get into it, but I found myself deepening the kiss and sliding a hand up Ashton’s bare arm. What
