is as racially diverse as it’s ever been, that’s moving more women than ever to the forward lines, and is about to allow homosexuals to serve openly, to a standard that’s nearly impossible to achieve.”
Jonah groaned as if he was in pain. “Is this the same way you ended up in Iraq with me trying to keep you from taking a beating?”
Kellan chuckled. “No. Back then I was actually trying to prove a point and impress someone. Now I’m just feeding my own curiosity. They based their denial of Miguel Restrepo’s MOH on criteria never used before.”
“Would you be this curious if Restrepo had been a soldier instead of a Marine?” Jonah searched his face intently.
“I don’t know,” Kellan replied honestly. “But I’m distinctly uncomfortable with how they’ve called into question the word and the honor of an entire platoon of Marines.”
Jonah nodded his understanding. “Keep me posted.” He gathered up the folder of papers, closed Kellan’s laptop, and set everything on the floor beside the chair. “Now, can you obsess about this when I’m back in California?” His voice was pitched low and full of promise. “I’m only here for another week, so you should be obsessing about me.”
Kellan settled back in the chair, his heart kicking up in pace. He enjoyed the feel of Jonah’s heat beside him. “I always obsess about you. Any news on your billet?” Jonah had been allowed to attend the 1 st Sergeant Course once his selection to 1 st Sergeant was confirmed, but before he was technically promoted. They were waiting to hear where he’d be assigned once his promotion was implemented.
“Yeah, I heard days ago and I forgot to tell you.” Jonah’s sarcasm was palpable.
“Okay, stupid question,” Kellan said, raising his hands in supplication. “You know why I’m impatient.”
“Yeah, I know,” Jonah whispered, lowering his head for a gentle kiss.
Kellan slid his hands beneath Jonah’s shirt, feeling warm, smooth skin beneath his palms. Jonah moaned softly, arching into Kellan’s hands. Kellan rubbed his tongue against Jonah’s before it retreated. He chased Jonah’s mouth, opening immediately to him when Jonah changed the angle of the kiss. Jonah pulled back again, tilted his head and nipped at Kellan’s lower lip. Kellan lay back and let Jonah have his way. He watched Jonah’s wet, reddened lips each time he pulled back then closed his eyes in pleasure each time Jonah leaned in for a kiss.
“Let’s get this out of the way,” Jonah murmured, tugging Kellan’s shirt awkwardly over his head.
Kellan ran his hands over Jonah’s back. He wanted to feel that warm skin pressed against his own. “You, too,” he said between heated kisses, pulling at the hem of Jonah’s shirt until he dragged it over his head.
He pulled Jonah to him, taking Jonah’s weight as he draped himself over Kellan’s body. Kellan moaned at the wet rub of their tongues against each other as Jonah kept his lips just out of reach. It was the kind of dirty kiss Jonah had gotten Kellan hooked on.
Jonah slid down Kellan’s body and straddled his legs. Kellan watched him, cheeks flushed, lips red and swollen as he breathed heavily through them. Jonah’s long-fingered hands, as gentle as they were deadly, tugged at the waist of Kellan’s track pants. Kellan helped him, pushing the fabric downward and freeing his still-growing erection. He watched his own cock settle against his belly and give a single, impatient twitch.
Kellan gripped the base, holding his dick upright as encouragement for Jonah to do what they both wanted him to. Whenever Jonah did this for him, Kellan couldn’t help remembering their first time together. He’d wanted Jonah badly from the first moment they’d met. As Jonah’s platoon commander, Kellan hadn’t dared act on his desires. The night he’d told Jonah he was leaving the Marines, he’d been hoping the attraction was mutual and that he could finally know what it was like to
