made her way towards the bathroom. She just ran the faucet for a while and tried to catch her breath. She didn’t want to go back out, not yet. She wished it was Matt out there, even though Evan was gorgeous. For some reason, she simply wished it was someone else.
After her shower, Eve came back out, wrapped in a fluffy, white hotel robe. “I see your lady has thought of everything.”
“Yep, she knows me,” he said as he entered his bedroom. “I’m running off the tape. It’ll take me a minute.”
“It’s fine. Take your time.” Eve took a long drink. She didn’t have to stick around, which was a blessing. She began to see what guys liked about not being around for the next morning.
“So, can we meet up again soon?” Evan emerged from the bedroom and took off his mask shaking his blonde mane that had grown out since his overseas trip.
    “I don’t know. I’ll think about it.”
“All yours,” he handed her the tape, but turned back around quickly. “May I ask what inspired this debauchery?”
“No, you may not, just be thankful.”
“That I am,” he answered with a kiss on her cheek. Evan trusted her completely. Eve was one of the few people in the city not working for the government, which was probably why they hooked up so often. She was a vacation in his government city. She felt tired, but a different kind of tired. Tired of these trysts. They certainly were gratifying, but she wanted more… always more. Evan and Joseph weren’t cutting it.
Eve packed up her purse, and Evan headed down to hail her a cab. She met him downstairs, and he kissed her hand.
    “It’s been my pleasure.”
“Mine as well.” Eve positioned herself in the back of the cab and called out her address.
“Give me a call when you get home, so I know you’re safe.”
    “Okay, thanks.”
Eve looked out on another crisp, winter sky in her favorite city. She sped home, with the cabbie only screaming in another language once and awhile versus a constant stream of foreign profanity during daytime driving hours, and felt very relaxed and hungry for more... trysts weren’t enough. She wanted more excitement, more... something she couldn’t put her finger on. No man would stop until he got what he wanted, what he needed. Why should she?

Chapter 4

Another pile of papers shifted ominously on Eve’s desk. They lurched towards the floor, and she grabbed for them just as Jen was coming into her cubicle. Jen helped her pick up the strays that Eve missed, but stood silently awaiting Eve to speak first.
“So good show, huh?” Eve managed to pull together. She had felt a bit awkward around Jen after catching her and Geoff going at it.
“Yeah, Matt is really hot. Do you think he likes you, or is he into that crazy Russian bitch?”
“Dunno. I’m calling him today about some things, so who knows.”
“Okay, well nice talking to you.” Jen quickly walked away from Eve’s cubicle, as if it might catch on fire if it withstood her presence any longer.
Eve rubbed her temples. Awkward was bad enough, but dealing with someone young plus the awkwardness, even harder. She picked up the phone and smiled. Eve remembered Evan’s awesome performance for her tape. At least he had a copy, she sort of felt better about that considering she had done it for someone else to begin with.
    “Matt Chapman, please.”
    “Is this Eve?”
    “Yes, is this Matt?”
“Yes, it is. So nice to hear from you. I’m a little surprised to hear from you so quickly. Do you…have something for me?”
“Yes, when do you want to meet?”
    “How about this weekend? Saturday?”
Eve felt a little shocked by his reply. Saturday? With someone like Matt? She expected to get a Sunday from him; Saturday was rather high-ranking.
“Okay, is your place the address you emailed me?”
“Yes, be there at 5 p.m.”
“Okay— ” she was mentally searching for some small talk to chatter about, but he promptly hung up the phone. She felt oddly
