Escape to Earth 3: Defending Holy Ground
Gunny and Windy’s ships began salvoing their DM Missiles and they bore in on the magnetic fields the Invader ships gave off. The wave of destruction was running rampant in the Invaders ranks. Gunny and Kitch joined Windy and Indura’s ships and in a few moments, space was filled with missiles accelerating into the ranks of the Invaders that had been hit in the void.
Windy watched the destruction and shook her head, “Pan, what about the wave in the void?”
“The probe shows that they are continuing to move above and below the balls. Some are starting to slow down.”
Windy yelled into her communicator, “PREPARE TO GET OUT OF HERE!! THEY’RE SENDING SHIPS OUT OF THE VOID!!”
    Gunny yelled, “SKIP NOW!!”

A massive wave of Invader ships appeared in normal space and opened fire on the four ONE WORLD fleets. Hundreds of battleships began blowing up around him just as Gunny left normal space. A giant wave of the Invader’s disruptor beams shot out at the thousands of DM missiles that were fired by the battleships. However, even though the Dark Matter warheads had their thrusters burned off, they continued to be attracted to the magnetic fields of the Invader Ships. They picked up speed and massive explosions walked the ranks of the Invader Ships that had just arrived in normal space.
The Human Battleships entered the void and skipped away with thousands of Invaders chasing each ship. But they couldn’t match the speed of the fast moving human ships. Windy looked at the feed coming in from the probe and saw the giant wave of Orange Ships had come to a stop to counter the ambush and to avoid running into more DM Balls. She saw more than three thousand battleships had been destroyed when the Invaders entered normal space and opened fire. She glanced at the tactical monitor and saw the probe’s report that more than a hundred thousand Invader Ships had been damaged or destroyed, but it was not a victory. Humanity could not afford to lose that many ships even if a hundred thousand enemy vessels were destroyed. This was a definitive war of attrition and so far, the Invaders were winning.
“Windy, we didn’t react fast enough.”
“I know, Gerome. We’re going to have to fire the DM Missiles from much further out and run immediately. We can’t attack that close again.”
    “We did slow them down.”
“That’s the only good thing about this attack. We should jump to the next attack coordinates.”
“On our way. I’ll see you there.”
Windy sighed. Losing Sergy and John was a huge problem. Gunny and Gerome were getting up to speed but they weren’t seeing the big picture…yet. She looked at her tactical and saw Gunny was already in position waiting for the new path of the Invader Armada. She smiled, perhaps they were learning faster than she thought. She missed having Chad directing the attacks but understood why. There was more than a year of fighting ahead of them and she prayed she could make it take longer. The Fellowship was sending new battleships to replace those lost but the new crews weren’t experienced and it was showing. She hoped Jinks would help get them ready. Ninety percent of the losses today were to new battleships that recently joined their ranks. “Skip to the next attack coordinates.”
    “Yes Sir.”

Chapter Three
C had’s fleet of Battleships skipped in to the new planet and found a layered defense of Attack Pods surrounding the planet. He wondered why they were in a defensive formation and his Electronics Officer looked up, “Sir, Commodore Graham is on the frequency.”
    “Put him on my panel.”
Brandon Graham appeared on Chad’s display, “Sir, it’s good to see you.”
    “What’s going on BG?”
“A warship showed up yesterday and fired on one of our pods, Sir. The pod was destroyed and the ship skipped out before we could fire on it.”
    “Do you have a recording?”
“Yes Sir. I’ll send it to your panel.”
“My fleet will move in around
