me.
But it didn’t really register. All I could think was I wanted to see his blood. I heard the footsteps and cracking of twigs while I repeatedly punched lover boy, but didn’t expect to see her do a swinging roundhouse kick. Her foot landed between my chest and throat and had me gasping for air as I flew off lover boy. She went to him and checked his face.
Typical. I figured she was probably hoping I hadn’t ruined his pretty boy face. I finally regained my breath, got up, and dusted the leaves off of my workout clothes. As I looked up, I caught her slap across my face and she went for the next but I caught her wrist.
“Cool it princess, or I will take out my anger on your lover boy over there,” I growled.
“He’s my brother you idiot! Now let me go!” she shrieked.
I quickly let go and stepped back.
I recalled the comment she made before she left to speak to the police: she usually ran with her brother.
Shit! I’m such an idiot!
I shook my head in disbelief. This girl had completely invaded my body and now my mind. What was next, my heart?
Hell no!
I needed to get the hell out of here. What I needed was a distraction, and I was desperate enough to take up Trevor’s grandmother on her offer, even though I had planned to duck out of it somehow.
Chapter Three
Mylie
“Nik, killing him will only end with you going to jail. Calm down,” I said exasperated.
I knew there was no reasoning with Nik. He began pacing back and forth in the foyer as soon as we walked through the door. He was irate that he had been taken by surprise and knocked down, but what was most perplexing was the fact that Nik had approached him at all.
“He is a part of the faculty at P.H.U., and the rumor going around is that he is friendly with the students,” Nik finally said with a touch of anger.
What? He’s a professor? Oh my God, he was sleeping with students. This was bad.
My elbows rested on my knees, and I covered my face. How did this get so bad? I didn’t understand the emotions going through me, but the fact that it bothered me this much was a wake-up call.
Nik eventually left the room, and I figured I needed to do something to take my mind off all the commotion. Tea! Yes, tea was exactly what I needed. I raced up to my room and raided my closet. I went in search of the perfect outfit, but I couldn’t find anything. I needed resources, and only one person came to mind, Malory. I pulled out my phone and texted her.
Me: Problem!
Mal: Que pasa? Do I need my gun?
Me: Come over! ASAP
Mal: Ammo?
Me: TEA!
Mal: Reinforcements are on the way.
Me: Huh?
Mal: See you soon.
“Reinforcements” was never good when it came to Malory. I needed to shower. Twenty minutes later, I walked into my room and received the shock of my life.
“Ah!” I screamed.
A huge grin spread across my face seeing Malory, Rhonda, and Diana. These girls were the reasons I had stayed grounded in my principles after I heard about all of their sexual escapades. They stared at me, and I felt uncomfortable. I knew what they wanted, all the gory details.
What details did I really have? Other than an asshole had made my life feel like hell and I wanted him to be nothing but a memory?
“Spill it. What happened?” Malory was the first to speak.
“Ugh. He’s an asshole, and I am using tea at Mrs. Pierson’s as a distraction,” I replied.
I walked into the walk-in closet and put on a lacey white bra and cotton panties. I came out and the collective gasp made me flinch.
“What?” I asked as I propped my hands on my wide hips and stared at them.
“You are a single woman, not a married one. Why on earth would you wear those when you are not on your period?” Diana questioned, appalled. Coming from the sex toys guru , I knew this wasn’t good.
What was wrong with wearing cotton panties?
I shrugged and started to pull out slacks and a white button down shirt.
“NO! Absolutely not! Mylie, this is a setup not an interview. You’re
