cheeks. “I’ve been arrested, kidnapped and then kidnapped again. I want to know why the hell my life suddenly resembles something out of a James Bond flick. What the hell is going on?”
Luke cocked his head to the side and stared at her. She’s really good. He could understand how she’d managed to evade previous attempts of capture and arrest from every conceivable form of law enforcement throughout the world. She’s almost convincing. If he hadn’t seen the evidence with his own eyes he’d believe her dowdy façade, the fear, the indignation. But despite the vulnerability, and the almost tangible fragility, he detected an underlying strength. After what she’d been through, she should have looked like a wreck. But she didn’t. She looked, well, fierce. Beautiful. And that just makes her more dangerous .
“Okay, I’ll play along,” Luke said. “Last night someone hacked into Tek-Intel’s secure network and downloaded a research project before setting a virus to delete all traces of it from the TI end. Then they used the stolen access codes and broke into the research lab. They stole a secret prototype.”
Her head rocked back, as though reeling from a blow. “The suit.”
Luke nodded. “The Visi-suit is something TI is working on with the University of Washington and the military. But you already know that,” he said, wagging a finger at her. He didn’t have all of the information yet, but he knew who, how and when. That was enough.
He watched as comprehension dawned. Her bound hands rose to her mouth, and he heard her swear under her breath as she stared at him in shock.
Luke’s eyes narrowed. She deserves an Oscar. And he had work to do.
He stalked her, using his bulk to intimidate her. She retreated with each step he took, until she’d backed against a wall. The back of her head met the hard surface, and he watched the muscles in her throat work as she swallowed.
He rested his palms against the wall, bracketing either side of her head, and used his body to effectively hem her in. His nostrils flared as her vanilla scent teased him. Annoyed him. Aroused him.
He leaned even closer, so that a mere hair’s breadth separated them, and met her eyes with a compelling gaze of his own.
    “Where is the suit, Viper?”

Chapter Four
Maggie stared into the hypnotic eyes so close to her own. He was beautiful. A high forehead, cheek bones and a square jaw gave his face the planes and angles that turned a woman’s head. His full bottom lip hinted at a sensuality that his grimness belied. And she had his full attention.
She drew in a hesitant breath and could smell a faint trace of aftershave that echoed the essence of the man himself. Potent and powerful. And he wanted something she couldn’t give. Well, wasn’t that the story of her life?
“I. Didn’t. Take. It,” she stated, her voice low. Luke shook his head, and she couldn’t help the tiny shiver that lanced down her spine as he arched a sexy blond eyebrow.
“That’s not what the cops say. Or TI. Or even those guys who grabbed you,” he murmured silkily. Heat blossomed somewhere deep, somewhere new, and she tried to stop herself from staring at his mouth, at that full lower lip. Tried, and failed.
He shifted on his feet, his stance relaxed as he pinned her up against the wall. Her hands were wedged between them. She took her breath in tiny gusts to avoid the contact that normal inhalation would bring between their bodies. And that was the only reason for her light-headedness, damn it. She finally got her eyes to obey the messages from her brain and looked up. Her brain felt like marshmallow again. Hot, smoking marshmallow. Think .
“Wait, what about Richard Bates?” She’d met the billionaire CEO at the launch of the research project. “He’ll vouch for me.” Her fingers wriggled. She wished her hands were free. She wanted to scrabble against the wall behind her, as though she stood some chance of scratching her way through the
