down so she has no way of entering our dreams.”
“Right, got it.” I remembered that Dark Guides entered our dreams when we were at our weakest. They preyed on our weaknesses and took advantage of us. I had to be strong so that didn’t happen.

The rest of the day went by in slow motion. My mind couldn’t help but go back to Amanda’s warning. I had a ton of questions for her , but had no way to ask. She had come to tell me something, but how did I get a hold of her? I tried to push the thoughts of this new dark angel to the back of my mind, but I found it hard to do. Unfortunately I had to go into work, so Ianni promised me she would try to contact John somehow. Now that she was human I wondered how she would do it. Maybe she still had some sort of angel connections.
About an hour into my shift my phone rang. It was Dallas.
“Hi,” I answered, a smile immediately forming on my face.
“Hi, p rincess, how is work?” His voice sounded so sexy.
“Not good because you’re not here.”
“Well I can change that. Come to the office.” He hung up and I took off towards the main office. The residents probably thought there was some sort of emergency because they never saw me run otherwise. I saw him inside holding a bouquet of white lilies.
“For you , princess,” he said as he handed them to me. “Dinner tomorrow?” How could I say no to that? I nodded immediately.
“I have to get back to the restaurant . We are hiring a new chef. See you at your house at six.” He kissed me and left. I stood shocked.
“What just happened?” I asked Kerri who had seen the whole thing.
“I think Dallas gave you some beautiful flowers and asked you to dinner. Then took off.” She was so to the point. I laughed and put the flowers in an old vase. They looked so pretty in the staff kitchen that I decided to leave them there for everyone to enjoy. Working here could be depressing at times. Getting used to residents and then seeing them pass away took it’s toll on you, so the flowers would do us all some good.
After my shift finally ended I drove home , taking the coastal highway. I wanted to breathe some ocean air. It reminded me of my dream. I wondered where the actual house Landon and I shared was now. It would have been neat to see it. I pulled off the highway and took the road to my house. I noticed a car coming in my direction, and once my headlights hit the driver I realized it looked a lot like Landon. I slowed down to look behind me as the car passed. It wasn’t his car, so it couldn’t have been him. Landon drove a wreck of a car. For some reason he had an attachment to it. But maybe the new Landon had forgotten that attachment like he forgot me. I paid attention to the road until the car behind me flashed its lights. I pulled over to let them pass when the car I just saw pulled up behind me. The windows rolled down and it was Landon.
“Hey , like my new ride?” he asked. I did like it. In fact, it was beautiful. It was a Camaro, much like the one I had test drove but couldn’t afford. How did he afford this?
“It’s beautiful! Actually, I am very jealous. What are you doing out so late?” I yelled over the engine.
It wasn’t like Landon to be out at this time. What I knew of him was he slept late and went to bed early.
“Dropping off my date,” he said with a smile. Ugh! I glanced at the clock; it was almost 2 a.m. I didn’t want to think about why he was dropping her off at this time. “Wanna race?”
“That must be a joke. I drive a Honda , dork.” He laughed at my comment.
“Okay well how about breakfast then?”
“At two in the morning, Landon?”
“Yeah . Denny’s, it’s always open!” he said. I don’t know why, but I nodded my head. He took off and I followed, cursing myself the whole drive there. I had no idea why I had said yes to him. When he parked and got out of the car I knew why; because he had charm and charisma. It was undeniable, that was for sure. He
