loved giving him head.
In fact, she’d planned to wake him up that way this
morning, but he and the kids were gone before she got up.
He’d left her a note saying he’d drop the kids off at
their respective friends and she should meet him at the Reading Room, one of
her favorite restaurants, for lunch. Since she had the morning free and had to
go downtown anyway, she’d called Jonathon and he squeezed her in for makeup and
a haircut.
She glanced again at her reflection in the windows on
her way out of the salon, amazed at the difference an hour could make. He was
right though. The red lips and bombshell curls didn’t match her brown pants and
bulky sweater.
Glancing down at her watch, she decided she’d be a
little late for lunch.

Jack checked his watch for what felt like the
eighteenth time. Where the hell was she? He didn’t want to waste anymore of
their time alone together. He hadn’t wanted to leave her this morning, but he
figured the surprise he had waiting in the hotel room upstairs would make up
for it to both of them.
He set down his wine glass and reached for his phone.
Maybe she hadn’t seen the note; although that was hard to imagine.
While he listened to the phone ring he glanced at the
door. A gorgeous, voluptuous woman stood in the entrance and scanned the room.
Her red wrap dress hugged every curved before stopping just above her knees.
Her shapely legs ended with four-inch black stilettos.
His admiring smile turned to shock as the woman walked
toward him. Chrissy. It was his Chrissy. His phone clattered to the table and
he scrambled to his feet, catching his chair before it fell over. The beautiful
creature walking toward him was his wife. She stopped in front of the table,
looking unsure.
“Jack?” A wrinkle creased her brow.
“What did you do?” He could barely get the words out
of his mouth.
Her face fell. He immediately realized his mistake,
but he was so shocked his tongue felt thick and awkward.
“You don’t like it?” He couldn’t stand the quaver in
her voice and hurried to get control of himself.
“Like it? No, baby, I don’t like it. I love it.” He
reached for her, leaning in to nuzzle her ear. “I love you. You look amazing.”
Her face lit up, and he helped her to her chair.
Lunch was delicious, but he had to keep reminding
himself to talk. His wife sat across from him, looking so luscious, and his
mind would drift to the surprise he had waiting upstairs for her. He watched
Christine’s tousled curls bounce as she laughed at something and said a silent
prayer of thanks for the accident that led them here.

“Where are we going?” she asked as he led her away
from the parking garage and toward the entrance of the hotel attached to the
restaurant.
“It’s a surprise.” He kept his hand firmly on the
small of her back as he guided her past the front desk and to the bank of
elevators.
She started to ask how long he’d been planning this,
but as soon as the door slid shut behind them, his mouth covered hers. He
pressed her body against the elevator wall and cuffed her wrists with his
hands. Staggering a little in her new shoes, she struggled to stay standing
while he kissed the breath out of her.
Much too soon, the elevator dinged and the door slid
open. Jack let go of her hands and pulled her in next to him, as an older
couple got in the elevator with them. Jack smiled down at her tucked under his
arm, and she stifled a giggle. It looked like he was wearing as much lipstick
as she was. Making out in a hotel elevator in the middle of the day, it
probably looked like they were having an affair not like they’d been married
for sixteen years.
The elevator dinged again and Jack led her into the
hallway, cupping her bottom playfully before winking at the couple still in the
elevator.
    “Jack!”
“What?” he said, feigning surprise. “They just wish
they were us.” He swatted her butt and urged her down the hall. “Get a
