    I was usually calm and able to hold myself together, but his words made any chance of this being a nice evening vanish.
    “Are you serious right now?” I asked, angry at how he’d made a thoughtful gesture from my mother feel dirty. “You really are an asshole. This wasn’t charity, you dick. If you don’t want it, don’t eat it. But you could at least give it to the three beautiful people inside. Because they’re the only reasons I tolerate your fucking attitude.
