him?

I opened my eyes staring at the antique ceiling fan that was going around and around. I suddenly felt rage. I wanted to grab something and break it. I needed to destroy something so badly that it made my head hurt. The mattress creaked as I sat up and moved to the edge of the bed. The vibrator was traded in for another little gadget as I snatched my phone from the night stand. I flicked the ashes from my cigarette uncaringly onto the carpet and took another drag. Smoke filled the room as I made a call to an old friend who would do anything I wanted. All I had to do was ask.
The phone rang in my left ear before he answered.
“Hello.”
“How you doin’ baby?”
“Dallas, is that you?”
“You bet your sweet ass it is.”
“Well slap me and call me surprised. How’s the sexiest woman in California doing these days?”
I crossed my bare legs shaking my foot lightly.
“She’s doin’ jus’ fine.”
The gentlemen on the other end of the line responded with a little enthusiasm seasoned in his voice.
“Is this uhhh a business call or a pleasure call?”
“Well, it’s always a pleasure to talk to you, but this is a business call baby.”
“Well what can I do for you honey. God knows you’ve done a lot for me. Every time I think about our time together my cock just about jumps out my pants.” He said with a slight Texas accent.
“Well it’s good to know I’m still missed, but if you have a minute I’d like to request a small favor of you.”
“Just name it baby doll and I’ll see what I can do.”
I took another drag from my cigarette and blew the smoke out before asking an important question.
“Can you get me some coke?”

Grandmother

Pamela was shopping for baby stuff at a local Target store late in the afternoon. This was her fourth trip to the store in only three days. The problem was every time she thought she’d bought everything her new grandchild would need-she remembered something else. So the weekly ritual would start all over again and she would return to her house with a trunk full of infant merchandise.
In her mind she didn’t want Tyce and Angelique to have to pack anything when she watched the baby. Pamela wanted to already have whatever she or the newborn might possibly need. Her house would be a home away from home for the little prince or princess. After all, this was her very first grandchild but hopefully not the last.
The past several months had been the most peaceful and joyous time she could recall. Her friend roster remained short but she added a new person to the minimal list. She shared a ever growing bond with Gloria that got stronger by the day. The two women spent hours and hours together laughing and sharing both personal and humorous stories. Gloria loved any movie with Denzel Washington in it and made Pamela sit and watch them with her. At first Pamela was reluctant to participate in movie night, but after she saw the movie Glory-she instantly became a fan as well.
“That’s a good looking man right there!”
Pamela said with a mouthful of popcorn while she sat on Gloria’s couch late one Friday night.
“I told you, Denzel is talented and handsome.”
Gloria co-signed munching on some honey roasted peanuts. Pamela watched the screen intensely; never taking her eyes off it.
“If I saw a man that walked like that I’d follow him anywhere!” Pamela pointed her greasy finger to accentuate her statement.
“Amen. I told you girl and you thought I was playing.”
Pamela tried to explain, “I just never really paid much attention to him.”
“I bet you will now huh?” Gloria teased.
“I sure will. That is one truly delicious man.”
From that point on Gloria no longer had to force her friend to join her for movie night. Pamela was more than willing to come over. She even brought the snacks and the wine. Hours would fly by like a speeding train when they were together. Conversation traveled
