eyelids. Turning my head away from the intrusion, a sharp pain radiates through my skull. How much did I drink? With a moan, I lift my body off my stomach and take in my surroundings. I’m in a hotel room, alone. Last night’s events go from hazy to crystal clear within seconds.
Tripping over the sheets, I scramble off the bed frantically searching for my clothes. A scrap of black catches my attention and I grab my dress and panties. Just as I'm about to slip into the safety of the bathroom, the door to the room opens and hungry green eyes linger over my completely nude body. I try to cover up what I can.
“Oh, sweet girl. I saw it all last night,” he says, throwing his key card and wallet down on the desk and raising up two white bags in his other hand. “Breakfast?”
“Uhm, no?” Was that question? “I, ah. I need to get going. I have a...meeting...with a client. I’m an interior designer. So, you see. I have to go. Yea.” I rush into the bathroom, locking the door and sliding down to the floor.
What the hell did I do? I wanted to be free. I wanted to forget and look what I’ve done. I screwed a guy whose name I can’t remember, and I probably look like a complete child running away and lying...again.
Getting up off the floor, I use the toilet, throw my dress and underwear back on, and wash off what I can of last night’s makeup.
After ten more minutes of grabbing the doorknob and then chickening out, I finally take a deep breath and open it up. I can do this.
“Hey. You okay?” He calls from his seat on the bed, lazily leaning back on his elbows. His body language showing he is clearly fine with the fact that I’m about to do the walk of shame.
“I’m cool.” Cool? Really? I’m so lame. “Okay, so I’m just going to head out. Nice to meet you...” my voice trails off. Damn, what IS his name!
“Walker,” he reminds me, a slow smirk spreading across his face revealing that one sided dimple that I still find myself wanting to lick. “I would think with how many times you screamed my name last night you would remember, Sally.”
I am never drinking again . Grabbing my shoes from the foot of the bed, I try not to get too close to him. “Yes, Walker. Well, thanks for everything.” I turn and walk to the door.
In a flash he rolls himself up to stand and stalks towards me before I can get the door open, towering over me and pinning me against the wall with his stare. I am forced to look up to meet his eyes. Goosebumps spread over my skin as his hand skims up my arm and gently cups my cheek. My eyes close feeling his face close to mine. Thoughts of how amazing last night was have me panting and wanting him all over again. His breath is hot and just millimeters from my mouth. I close the distance, raising my chin to find his lips.
This kiss is unlike last nights. It is slow and sensual, making me rethink my exit. Both of his hands now hold my head firmly, thumbs on my cheeks, pulling me deeper into him. His tongue breaks the barrier of my lips. The sweet taste of sugar invades my mouth making me hungry for more, but he unexpectedly stops. Deep green irises greet mine when my eyelids flutter open.
“Your ex is stupid, you know? You’re so beautiful and sexy. Give me your number.” His authoritative tone almost has me giving in. I didn’t plan on a one night stand, but it happened and it needs to be left at just one night.
“No.” I slowly unwind my traitorous arms from around his neck and pull his hands away from my face bending down to retrieve the shoes I didn’t realize I dropped.
“Well, let me give you my number. That way if you change your mind, you can call me.” Walking over to the table he retrieves a pen but I’m already opening the door.
“No. I’m sorry. I needed last night, and it was amazing, but I just got out of a relationship. I don’t think starting up something new is a good idea right now.”
I push the door open more and see his unsure eyes watch me go.
