We are quiet again, looking at the cows in the snow-covered meadow. All those big faces.
âThat is quite a sight,â says Grandpa.
âIt is,â says Gran. She looks at her watch. âItâs Christmas,â she says.
âIâll say it is,â says Grandpa.
âMerry Christmas, White Cow,â I call to her.
âMerry Christmas, Brown Cow,â calls Liam.
âMerry Christmas, all cows!â says Gran.
And when we walk back to the house and turn to look at the meadow, an ocean of eyes looks back at us in the moonlight.
