of bacon. I feed him table scraps all of the time, and he never has a problem controlling himself.” I took another sip of my coffee and then leaned over and gave Zeus a kiss on top of his head while he lavished me with puppy kisses.
“Fine, you better be right. If he starts shitting all over the house, then he’s going to have to go.”
    What an asshole.
“He goes, I go. Don’t worry, asshole, he’ll be fine.” I set Zeus down on the floor and got up from the table. I walked into the kitchen, rinsed, and then loaded my plate and fork into the dishwasher. I turned my head and looked down in front of the window. There was a bowl out with water.
How flipping sweet that he thought of Zeus.
“Thanks for putting a water bowl out for Zeus. I really appreciate it,” I tossed over my shoulder.
Damien walked into the kitchen and went about washing his plate and loading it while I worked on getting everything off the stove.
“What are you doing, Sydney?” Damien looked at me, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Well, you cooked, so I thought I’d clean.” I started washing out the frying pan.
“You’re going to clean up this mess?” He looked at me like I was doing something wrong.
“Well, yeah, that’s the way we do it where I’m from,” I told him while I scrubbed.
“So where exactly are you from?”
“I’m from Detroit.” I guess we didn’t really know much about one another.
    “Cool.”
“Well, I’ll dry since you’re washing. That’s the way we do it where I’m from.” He got a towel out from the second drawer down and took the frying pan from me and started wiping it down.
Hmm, he had a few redeeming qualities that he was showing so far. One, he put a water bowl out for Zeus, which I had to admit slightly melted my heart, and it was frickin’ huge. Secondly, he’d cooked me breakfast, which he totally didn’t have to do and now he was helping me dry the dishes. Not to mention he hooked up my TV and my stereo.
“So where is it you’re from?”
“Born and bred in Vegas, baby.” He gave me that megawatt smile. I had to admit, he really was sexy—in a bad boy kind of way.
“Well, that’s cool. So all of your family is here then?” I took the bacon pan and started washing it out. There was so much grease it was disgusting. My lips slightly turned down.
“Yes, they are. I have a brother Reeve, who I think I mentioned. He is the oldest, then my brother Justice, then me, my younger brother Sabastien, and my baby sister, Destiny.” His eyes lit up with pride talking about his family.
“Wow, you have a big family. I’m an only child.” I wasn’t going to mention anything else about my family.
“I couldn’t imagine being an only child, seriously?” He looked at me with curiosity.
    “Yep.”
I was done with this conversation. I finished washing the bacon pan and handed it to him. I shut off the water and then bent down to the cabinet below the sink and searched for some product to clean the stove off. I grabbed what I needed and went to work on it.
“Well, you’ll eventually meet all of my siblings. My apartment has sorta been a revolving door when it comes to them.” He spoke with pride.
“Cool, are they all like you?” I had to ask and honestly, I couldn’t control my filter. I’m sure it would piss him off, but I couldn’t help myself.
“Funny, ha.” He looked at me and rolled his eyes.
“Sorry. That was in poor taste. I would love to meet them.” I’m sure they had to be decent people. Damien didn’t seem like a bad guy. He was just a total player.
“Thanks. You’ll meet them soon enough. Once you’re finished with wiping down the counter, let’s get a move on.” He reached down on the floor and picked up Zeus, who was by my feet. “I’ll take ol’ bruiser out to do his business while you finish up.” He picked up his leash and then walked out the door.
Wow. Another good quality. He was being nice to Zeus and helping me take care of him.
