this,” he said roughly in her ear, his hot breath sending delicious shivers down her spine.
She smiled as she leaned into him. “C’mon. You know you enjoy this just as much as I do.”
“You mean the drink? I’ll definitely be enjoying the drink more than you.”
They walked towards a small thatch-covered hut that had been transformed into a tiki bar.
“What can I get for you two?” The barman asked as he twirled a shaker impressively in his hand.
“A Blue Hawaii,” she said quickly as she leaned onto the counter and he quickly began pouring the various liquids into a shaker.
Though she wasn’t much of an Elvis fan (who was at this day of age?), she’d always thought they sounded exotic and besides, what better place to try a Blue Hawaii than in Hawaii?
As he shook the drink, he nodded towards Landen. “And you, sir?”
    “I’ll have a gimlet.”
“Awww… Get in the spirit. We’re in Hawaii. Hawaii,” she emphasized, hoping he got her point. “When’s the next time you’re going to have this chance again?”
The words were out of her mouth before she thought about it and realized her folly. This was Landen she was talking to here. There would be plenty of times for him to go to Hawaii in the future.
She cursed herself at her naivety. He was just so easy to be around that she forgot about their differences sometimes.
Oblivious to her thoughts, he nodded at the man pouring the rum into a glass. “This Gimlet’s being made in Hawaii just as we speak.”
She rolled her eyes and laughed as she got her drink and headed towards the seating area. She picked the farthest row in the back and sat down, watching the rest of the crowd settle in. Though she knew nothing would happen, she wanted a little privacy with Landen. It would be their last night together and she didn’t feel like sharing him with anyone else.
She took a sip of the drink and the blue liquid went down her throat, tasting sweeter than what she’d been expecting, but pretty good.
“I was hoping you’d copy me, so I could see you drink a girly drink,” she admitted when Landen joined her.
“I doubt that you’d find me as alluring if I did.” Watching her with steely eyes, he took a swig of his drink.
Rebecca’s eyes followed the movement and her throat dried as she watched his adam’s apple bob up and down. He had a very nice throat. Long and tanned from them being out all day. She could just imagine nibbling it and wondered how he tasted.
“You’re very sure of yourself,” she said as she looked back at him with as much disinterest as she could muster.
His eyes watched her lips. “You want to see for yourself?” His voice sounded huskier.
Her cheeks flushed as he leaned closer, so close that she could feel his hot breath teasing her, intoxicating her with its heady smell.
She opened her mouth to respond, but he murmured, “Too late,” and captured her lips in a kiss.
He tasted strong and masculine. Needing more, she kissed him back with an urgency that surprised her.
As his lips moved over hers, her whole body felt as if it was on fire. It seemed impossible that she could feel so much from a kiss.
She moaned and he deepened the kiss, taking everything that she had.
She suppressed a groan when he broke off the kiss. Just a little more.
She opened her eyes and felt a bit dizzy when she saw him watching her with those intense gray eyes of his and even though it was warm outside, she shivered. Already missing those lips of his, she wondered if it would be considered too brazen if she pulled him back for another kiss.
A conch shell sounded, signaling the beginning of the show, but neither of them looked towards the stage. Suddenly, the luau wasn’t that interesting any more.
Though she would only be in Hawaii once, she would always regret it if she didn't take this chance with Landen.
He offered his hand as he stood up.
Instinctively, she took it. His eyes flashed dangerously with a sense of victory as
