here?” Thomas frowned at her briefly before his expression cleared. “He doesn’t work here. He’s a neurosurgeon, a friend of mine. He was only here because I asked him to sit in on our trial run. Get his opinion of the setup.”
She shook her head. Trust him to have a motive behind even the smallest details on that set.
He said, “Productive day. We’ve found your headliner act, though it’ll be a pain in Beverly’s ass, trying to book this room with us together and separately when needed.”
    “What do you mean?”
“I mean the queen bit was definitely an accurate read for you. It suits your talents, your personality, everything. Based on Mr. Mouth’s reaction, I’d say you have a potential hit on your hands. Hell, even I was turned on, and I haven’t felt that in a damned long time.”
She felt something very like pride and triumph at his words, but was quick to check herself. “But did your client enjoy it?”
“Yes. She’s exhausted, and wants to rebook you and me together, next month. We’ll tweak some things, though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re the servant next time.”
Amanda laughed. “Oh, God. I can hardly wait.”
“Me either. I may get to bend you over that throne after all. But come on, now. Steph sent word that Warnous means to have another go. She wants us in the Hall by seven-thirty.”
She almost asked him who Warnous might be, then realized whom he meant. She and Thomas had met for the first time at the Hall, where she’d witnessed a reclusive rock legend—Robert Warnous—trying to sing on stage, but choking at the last minute.
Thomas, if he knew any details of why such a man would come to Fantasy Heights, had refused to share them. Hopeful for some explanation finally, she allowed him to haul her back to her feet. They returned to wardrobe together and hit the showers, then walked over to the Hall, the resort’s theater, to find it much less crowded than last time. They were late, and would have little time to get settled before the show would begin.
Amanda noticed as they came down the aisle together that nearly everyone turned to watch them. Guarded expressions abounded, and it worried her, what other staff members might be thinking. Thomas was not an easy man. He had a highly polarizing effect on people, and he had set her apart first by commandeering her as his trainee, and now by putting her on the fast track to headliner. His interest in her could land her on many people’s bad sides.
Then again, she wasn’t here to make friends. She wasn’t here to become Thomas’s pet, either, and she sat in uneasy attendance as Thomas took a seat beside her.
On stage, the lights were still low, and remained that way for several minutes. Around them, the crowd began to talk amongst themselves. Thomas followed suit.
    “What are you doing after?”
    “Moving.”
    “Moving?” he echoed.
“I rented a townhouse a couple days ago. It was empty, so the landlord’s letting me move in right away.”
Thomas’s brows went up. “Do you even have any furniture?”
“No, but I ordered some stuff, and if everything went as planned today, I should have a bed and some office furniture by now.”
“And if it didn’t go as planned?”
She shrugged a shoulder. “I’ll come back here and spend the night. No big deal. I’m off tomorrow, so I’ll have the whole day to do stuff.”
“Not the whole day,” he reminded her.
At the renewed thought of her anal fantasy coming true tomorrow, her breath caught slightly. She was more nervous about it than she thought she’d be, and with Thomas’s dark eyes fastened onto her that way, she knew he was thinking about it, too. That knowledge had a very unfortunate effect on her heart rate and imagination, and she felt a pang down deep.
Her thoughts rewound themselves to that moment as queen, when she’d had his thick, beautiful cock in her hand, when he’d threatened to bend her over the throne. If only he had followed
