Aaliyah was sitting in the same spot as when they first met. The thing is she wasn’t alone today.
“So this is why you couldn’t return my text or calls.” “You got someone else.” “You could’ve just told me, Aaliyah, instead of hiding it.”
“Ray, No!” “You have it all wrong.” “This is my brother Jason.”
“Jason this is Ray; the guy I’ve been telling you all about.”
“Nice to meet you man, but uh, next time you
insinuate my sister is shady, we might have a problem, my dude.”
“I’m sorry man, I feel so stupid, I jumped to conclusions, I should have known better.” “I just, never mind, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize to me, apologize to Lele.”
    “I’m sorry Aaliyah.”
    “It’s ok.”
“Yeah well looks like y’all have some stuff to work out, but uh, Lele I’ll be right over here if you need me.” Said Jason
    “I’ll be fine J,”
    “I’m just saying.”
“You want to sit down?” Aaliyah asked Ray.
    “Sure.” Replied Ray.
    “I should apologize.” Said Aaliyah.
“Ray, I didn’t mean to make you feel like I had someone else or that I didn’t want to see you, it’s just, I have something I need to talk to you about and, I’m not sure how you’re going to take it.”
“Well just tell me.” “I’m sure it can’t be any worse than what I was imagining on my own.”
“Well, I’m not sure about that but, ok here it goes.”
“I’m celibate Ray.” I’m really trying to wait until I get married to have sex.” “No, I’m not a virgin.” “My ex I told you about was my first but, I thought we were getting married and, well he turned out to be a jerk.” “So, I promised myself and God, ever since then that, that I’d wait for my husband.”
    Ray began to laugh.
“It’s not funny Ray.” “I’m serious.”
“Oh no, I’m sorry for laughing but, that’s it?”
    “That the big secret?”
“That’s the reason you’ve been avoiding me all this time.”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?”
“Well, I thought that you may not want to see me if I told you.” “I was afraid.” Said Aaliyah
    “and I really like you.”
“Seriously Aaliyah, after all, the time we’ve spent together that’s what you think of me?” “I know we’re still getting to know each other but, still, I thought we were better than that.”
“Look, I like you too, and if you want to wait, then we’ll wait,” said Ray.
Aaliyah was so relieved she didn’t know what to do.
“Wow, you really are perfect huh?”
    “Yeah well, you know.”
Ray and Aaliyah laughed and talked until Jason finally got up and decided he was ready to go.
“Hey, I’m tired, let’s get home Lele.” Said Jason
“Come on J, just a few more minutes.”
“No, I want to go to bed.”
“I’ll take you home if you want to stay.”
“Ok, so are you staying or coming with me?”
    “I’ll stay.” Said Aaliyah
“Whatever man, I’ll see you at home.”
    “Ok.”
After Jason left, Ray and Aaliyah gathered up their things and took a walk around campus. They talked, and laughed, laughed and talked for the next three hours. It was only when they ran into campus security that they realized it was almost midnight. The conversation between them just seemed to flow so naturally that they never wanted it to end. Ray drove Aaliyah home and walked her to the door, gave her a kiss goodnight, waited for her to go inside and, drove off. Aaliyah was so spell bound she didn’t even realize that Jason was sitting on the couch watching her every move. When Aaliyah finally turned around…
    “What’s up?”
Aaliyah jumped and Jason turned the lamp on.
“Jason, you scared the living day lights out of me.”
“Yeah well, something needs to scare you.” “Do you have any idea what time it is?”
“Yes, and I’m grown Jason, I can stay out as late as I want.”
“Aaliyah, you don’t even know this guy.” “Why do you trust him so much?”
“I know all I need to
