The Draglen Brothers - DRAKEN (BK 1)
Donna Marie, Travis will
be there. I so wish Travis would fall off the face of the earth.
Travis and I were dating for the first 2 ½ years of college, until
I caught him kissing Lauren. I thought we would get married one
day, and he broke my heart. I trusted his “I love you,” and it was
nothing but a lie. The more I think about that hurt, the more I
know getting involved with anyone is out of the question,
especially Draken. Wanting him should be far from my mind, yet
there is something different about him, in fact about them all.
I’ve never seen one man controlling his family, the way they all
dispersed. I know in the Lamil family, my dad can be very
demanding, but with Draken, they never said a word, and it’s almost
like they knew to leave; my dad doesn’t possess that type of power.
It is another hot day here in Paradise Valley, Arizona, the
temperature is reaching over 115 degrees today. I know that the
party will lead to the pool at some point, so I will make sure to
pack a sexy swimsuit. Hmm, I think my pink and black bikini, the
one with hints of glitter in the material, will be perfect. Yes,
I’m going to be hot! I will make that Draken drool, and then I
won’t even speak to him. That will teach him never to treat me that
way again. I feel like dancing. I walk over to my iPod, place my
earplugs in and start moving. I love to dance. Dancing is a release
of many things, and right now, dancing will help make sure my
nerves are under control for the party. The way I dance is a
mixture of ballroom with ballet and hip-hop. If my parents saw me
grinding right now, they would think I’d lost it. I just love the
freedom of dancing. When I feel the tap on my shoulder I jump,
because everyone knows if you knock and I don’t answer, that just
means no company is wanted. I turn and it’s my twin. D never gives
me any personal space.
“What is the rule?” I say, as I turn
down the music.
“You know rules don’t apply to me,
sis, I just want to know if we are riding together to the party
tonight.”
    “You’re not going.”
“Yes, I am. You know that parties
don’t happen unless I’m there. Besides, I want to see this guy
that’s got you dancing again. I want you back dating again, since
Travis you have been different.”
“What did I say about his name? You
need to ride by yourself to the party, I might stay over at Donna
Marie’s house. Now get out,” I say, feeling horrible for speaking
to D like this.
“Hey listen, Cess, you’re my twin
sister and best friend. I’m sorry, but I want you happy again. I
don’t want you to not open up because of him. Now don’t be mad, and
come give your brother a hug,” he says, smiling, arms wide open
waiting for my hug.
    “I’m not hugging you, D, you’re not
fooling me. As soon as I’m in your arms you’re going to lick my
face. Ugg, and that’s gross by the way.”
    “The ladies love it.”
    “That’s only because they’re
delusional,” I say, smiling.
“Well, I’m glad we got this all clear,
now I need to go get ready for the party, sis. And, umm, just in
case you were wondering what to wear, I think that silver dress
thingy will make heads turn,” D says, walking out of my room. I
yell out, “Thanks D, love.”
    “Any time!”
I head to my big closet, and sit on
the bench looking at all my silver dresses. I choose the short,
backless one. I decide to be different, and add blue heels and
accessories. This is going to be a night to remember. I plan on
having a good time.

    ***

Dressed and ready to party, I grab the
keys to one of the many cars in the garage. I see I have the
Maserati Convertible keys. Yes, this will be perfect! When Draken
sees what he missed out on, he’s going to kick himself. I grab my
packed bag, and make my way to the car. Gloria always makes sure
the car is brought around. She tells Gordon, who is the driver, to
ensure the car is ready to drive.
I jump in, and waste no time speeding
past Draken’s house.
