melted. They’d both given her the most intense sexual experiences of her life, yet the look of remorse he gave her almost broke her heart. She sat up quickly, ignoring the protest from her exhausted muscles, wanting—no, needing—to reassure them. David’s face relaxed into a brilliant smile as soon as she shook her head.
    “No, you didn’t hurt me. I loved every moment of it, and I love you both.” She reached up to press a gentle kiss to David’s mouth and then twisted in the cramped space of the tiny bath to press a soft kiss to Jessica’s sweet lips.
    “So does that mean you’re ready for more?” Kayla’s muscles tightened with desire even as she laughed and shook her head.
    “Just give me another moment or two.” She lay back against Jessica, turning slightly so that she could rest her face against her lover’s soft breast.

Chapter Four

    “I think she’s asleep.” Jessica whispered the words despite knowing her husband could read them in her mind. David reached out and ran his finger softly down the cheek of the woman asleep in his wife’s arms before leaning forward to press a kiss against Jessica’s lips.
    He smiled at both women before straightening up and leaning back against the vanity. “ We have a small problem, though. ” He said the words telepathically, unwilling to share his concerns with Kayla just yet. She didn’t know much about their Sesturian biology or culture yet, and he didn’t want to scare her with snippets of information that could be frightening if taken out of context.
    Jessica smiled back at him, her understanding of the situation unsurprising considering she could read his mind easily and knew him so well. “ You want to claim her as our Taydelaan. Even now, I can feel the enzyme building in your body. What I don’t understand is how your physiology is even capable of producing it when she isn’t our true Taydelaan .”
    He shook his head. He had no explanation either. The enzyme should only have begun producing after they’d made a mental connection with their Taydelaan. There was no mental connection between Kayla and Jessica, or between David himself and Kayla, so he had no way to explain the intense burning need to claim a woman who wasn’t their Taydelaan.
    His wife watched him intently for a moment. He could hear the myriad of thoughts swirling through her mind and was shaking his head even before she voiced them. “ If I claim her, I change her physiology, too. I take away any chance she has of having human babies of her own. I won’t do that to her or you, ” he said directly into Jessica’s mind. “ If we can’t be a Sesturian family, maybe we can be a human one. ”
    Jessica eyed him carefully, as if the thought had never actually entered her mind. She looked as concerned and confused as her mind felt.
    “ Will you be able to control the enzyme? The urge to claim her? ”
    That was the billion dollar question.
    He had no idea.

    * * * *

    Kayla woke wrapped in the arms of the woman she loved.
    “Well, hello, sleepy head.”
    David’s deep voice sounded from across the room where he sat on the floor with his back braced against the wall. He was fully dressed but looked a little ragged. It was hard to define exactly how she realized things weren’t quite right, but the feeling persisted as she tried to untangle her limbs from Jessica’s.
    “What’s wrong?” she asked, panic drilling through her even though she couldn’t really explain why. David moved to the edge of the bed quickly, his hand cupping the side of her face as he pressed a gentle kiss to her mouth. He lingered a moment and then sat back onto his haunches.
    “You have too many clothes on.” She saw through his attempt to change the subject but couldn’t help the giggle that escaped her. Too many clothes, huh? She was fairly certain that under the light quilt covering her and Jessica they were both naked as the day they’d been born. Assuming, of course, that Sesturians were
