    “Maybe you’re
right. Gen, actually I’m glad you called because there’s something I wanted to
get out in the open before we have sex.”
    Her heart
skipped a beat, wondering what he was about to tell her.
    “I hope you
won’t take this the wrong way, but I’d prefer it if we didn’t kiss because it
seems too intimate. I don’t want to tarnish my wife’s memory.”

    It was
actually something she was really looking forward to. She longed to have a

    “That’s fine
with me.”
    “Good. I
didn’t want to offend you or have you think I didn’t want to kiss you. Under
any other circumstances I would, but it’s not a thing I want to do with another

    She squeezed
her eyes together. Why was she so disappointed about his no-kissing request?
    “So I’ll see
you at your place tomorrow night.” Jake’s voice jolted her out of her train of
thought.
    “Sure, see

    Gen pressed
the end call button and set her phone on the desk. Could she do this? Not so
much the have sex with Jake bit, but the getting physically close without
getting emotionally attached to him to bit? And what if he found someone who he

    She shook her
head. She’d face that problem if and when it arose. For now, she’d be just like

Chapter Five
     
    On Saturday,
Jake had made sure he didn’t eat anything containing onions or garlic. Not that
he was going to kiss Gen, but hovering over her body and breathing heavily down
upon her wouldn’t be that great if he reeked of stinky foods.

    He sat down
