took. Jaycee jumped out of Remi's arms and attacked. Shelly's mate pushed away from Shelly. Jaycee sent her claws across his face and he stumbled back.
Everyone just stared at her like she was nuts, but she didn't back down as Shelly's mate came at her. Her mates just stood there and watched. Adam growled, facing her. His claws swung out and scratched her arm, but she jumped back so his attack didn't do the damage it was meant to. She knocked over the table.
“You drew first blood, alpha. Your mates can't help you now. I knew you were a bitch, but this goes too far. You'll learn not to interfere in my business,” Adam snapped and jumped, trying to pin her down, but she moved too fast and jumped out of the way.
“Actually, I didn't draw first blood. You did when you hurt my sister,” Jaycee yelled, and her right claw swiped at his stomach.
Her mates growled in the background, a little too late.
“You lie!” Adam said, and tried to jump on her again, but Dane stepped in and grabbed him around the throat. His beast stared up at Adam as he held him in the air.
Dane shook him in the air. “Did you hurt my sister?” he demanded.
Jaycee ran to Shelly, who sat there with tears in her eyes.
“It's okay, Shelly. He won't hurt you again. I know the signs. I saw and smelled the makeup,” Jaycee said, taking a napkin and wet it. She started to remove the makeup. Sure enough, the whole side of Shelly's face was black and blue. Jaycee continued to clean Shelly's face.
Mark and Dane threw Adam towards the outside door. They stalked him. Shelly's mom came over. Tears fell down her face.
“Shelly, why didn't you tell us?” she asked and knelt down near her daughter.
“She was afraid and ashamed,” Jaycee answered.
Shelly looked up into her eyes and nodded. “I know, Shelly,” Jaycee said. “I'm still that way sometimes, when I think back. I keep telling myself there could have been a way to get away, but it wasn't the case.” Jaycee sighed and grabbed Shelly's hand. “Listen to me. I know what I'm talking about here. No man has the right to ever touch you like that and he won't again. I don't think he was your true mate. No true mate would hurt you like that. If you need to talk, you know where I'm at,” Jaycee said.
She got up, turning to go back to her home. Remi stopped her and pulled her into his arms.
“You're hurt.” He frowned, but Jaycee didn't listen. She pushed out of his arms and stomped towards their home. She needed to get new clothes before she shifted back. Jaycee turned into her wolf form and ran for her bedroom. Tears ran down her muzzle.
It all brought so many memories back, and her mates hadn't even asked, or trusted her judgment again. Jaycee shifted back to her human form and walked into her closet. She grabbed another skirt and sweater, and all three of her mates came into their bedroom.
“Jaycee, don't bother getting dressed. Come here now!” Dane demanded.
Jaycee rolled her eyes and grabbed her clothes. She brought them out with her as she watched her mates. Blood ran down her arm, but it didn't even faze her.
“Sit down on the bed so we can take care of that arm.” Mark snapped and went into the bathroom. He grabbed the first-aid kit. Jaycee sat on the bed. Dane paced back and forth.
“What were you thinking, confronting him? He could have killed you! Why didn't you tell us? We would have taking care of it?” Dane demanded.
Mark cleaned and wrapped her arm.
“If you recall, when Remi pulled me aside, I did tell you to trust me. To get Shelly away from him, but did you listen to me? No! So don't go and blame this on me,” Jaycee yelled. She wasn't going to back down this time.
“You said to trust you, and I did. I asked you, but did you trust me? No, again you didn't trust my judgment,” Jaycee said and pulled on her skirt and blouse. All her mates faced her and stared at her.
“What are you doing? I told you not to get dressed.” Dane demanded. He jumped to her
