Chapter Seven

    "How do you feel, beautiful?"
"Like I've been run over," I groaned. "Or that I've been asleep for a fortnight. Or both."
Rick laughed, his finger stroking gently at my cheek before pushing my hair back from my eyes. "Welcome back to the land of the living. The doctor said the Tramadol should be out of your system now. You'll be fine."
I wearily pushed myself up. "Doctor? I don't remember any doctor."
"Well, you have been asleep for the best part of fifteen hours. If you'd drunk another glass of that champagne, you might be in hospital having your stomach pumped. Luckily, you only took a fairly low dose."
I rubbed my eyes. "I knew something was wrong. That's why I called you. Before I knew it, I was practically passing out… he took photos..."
Rick placed a finger to my lips. "I know exactly what happened, don't worry. The photos are destroyed. I crushed the memory card under my foot."
"And Sean? What happened to him?"
"He was at Venice Beach, just like I thought. But he wasn't missing. He was strung out on a rock, coming down from a massive high."
    "Jake lied?"
Rick nodded. "Yeah. Sean was in on it as well. Luckily, he'd taken so many drugs that he just told me everything. Spilled the beans. His brother has ten million dollars wrapped up in a mortgage on that tacky dump of his. If he spent a bit less on prostitutes and gambling, maybe he'd be able to afford it."
    "He has gambling debts?"
"He does, but that's not the half of it. Sean is in an even bigger hole. Apparently he owes a couple of hundred thousand to his drug dealer and now he's threatening to take out both his kneecaps. Once he's done that, he'll start on the elbows. And when he can't crawl on his hands or knees…well, I wouldn't like to know."
I shook my head in disbelief. "God, they must have been desperate."
"Yup. And stupid. That's it now. The band is over, for good. If – and it's a big if – there had been a good reason we could have made a new album without any of this bullshit and drama, I might have considered it. Maybe as a farewell to our fans, you know? But it's completely over now."
"I'm not going to lie," I sighed. "I'm relieved. Does that mean I get you all to myself now?"
Jake gently kissed me on my lips, his warm, soft touch lingering for a second and making me feel safe again. "I'm all yours. Yours to keep."
"I must look like hell," I smiled.
"Not possible," he replied, slowly sliding a finger between my breasts. "You always look amazing."
"Wait here," I said. "I have something for you that I haven't had chance to show you yet. Get into bed and get naked, rock god."
I grabbed some underwear from the drawer at the side of the bed and headed to the en-suite bathroom, snatching a pair of high heels along the way.
"I thought you were ill," Rick laughed.
I looked back at his tousled dark hair and sparkling blue eyes. "Well, you'll just have to make me feel better, won't you?"
I slipped on the underwear and stared at myself in the mirror, applying a little smoky eye shadow and light red lipstick. The thin lace of my bra showed off my cleavage beautifully; unpadded fabric pushed my breasts together and sat tightly over my semi erect nipples, creating a devastatingly sexy silhouette. The tiniest and skimpiest of panties left nothing to the imagination, barely covering my thin strip of neatly trimmed, crimson red pubic hair and showing off my shapely, round buttocks. I tingled at the thought of Rick's hands on them, squeezing them tightly and sending an inevitable rush of warm juices between my legs.
Sheer black stockings and high heels completed my seduction. My head felt a little woozy still, causing me to wobble for a second in those five inch tall shoes, but I took a deep breath and stared back at the woman looking at me. I barely recognised her any more. Sure, I still looked the same as the Amy Reid that had interviewed Rick all those months ago. But I was a different person now, brimming
