any way.
âBob, you being a Super Bowl champion doesnât impress me.â Amber didnât flinch.
âOh my. Bob, you might want to quit while you still have your ego intact.â Jason laughed.
âJason, youâre right. Iâm going to take that as my cue to keep it moving. Iâll catch you later. If you get some free time while in Vegas, hit me up.â
Bob eased out of the chair next to Amber and left them alone.
Jason laughed. âYou cut deep. Iâm going to call you the Ice Princess.â
âHeâs so arrogant. He actually thought he could impress me because he was an NFL player. Try again. Been there. Done that.â
âSo youâve dated a pro athlete before?â
âYes, but this is neither the time nor the place to discuss it. You wanted to party, letâs do it.â Amber picked up the flute of champagne and drank it all.
Jason poured himself a glass and did the same.
Jason noticed Amber dancing in her seat. He leaned closer to her and said, âDo you want to dance?â
âWho me? No. I never dance,â she responded.
âYouâre doing good dancing in your seat,â Jason noted.
âDancing in my seat and dancing on the dance floor are two different things.â
âCome on. You canât be that bad.â Jason stood and extended his hand.
Amber grabbed it. âDonât say I didnât warn you.â
They eased through the crowd and got on the dance floor located at the opposite end from where they sat. A fast song by Beyoncé blasted through the club. Jason enjoyed watching Amber swing her body to the beat. He adjusted his pants, hoping she hadnât noticed the slight bulge between his legs as she pushed her body close to his.
Amber felt a thick nudge against her rear. But instead of being offended, it aroused her. She wanted Jason to find her desirable. The fact that sheâd gotten him to respond in that way made her feel sexy. The deejay slowed the music down. Jason grabbed her hand to walk back to their seats. She boldly said, âYou got me out here on this dance floor. So letâs dance.â
âI thoughtâ¦â
Before he could complete his sentence, she eased up close to him and placed his hand around her waist. From there, she didnât need to prompt him. He took full control.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and he pulled her in closer to him as they danced to a John Legend slow song.
Amber laid her head on Jasonâs chest. The sound of his heartbeat matched her own. She could feel the heat of their bodies through their clothes in the air-conditioned club. They could have been in Antarctica and there would be no denying the heat coming from her body.
She wanted Jason in a way sheâd never wanted a man before. This feeling she had was what sheâd written about many times, but had never experienced herself. The only problem was the fact that Jason was only being nice to her because he was a client. She wasnât naive to think otherwise.
Although she was enjoying her time with him, she wouldnât allow herself to completely forget she was a client and nothing more. For now, she would indulge in the feel of his firm body as they danced, because she knew that after this weekend, reality would set in and she would go back to her normal, almost boring life.
Chapter Six
The sunlight beamed through an opening in the curtain, hitting Jason right in the face. He squinted as he slowly raised his head off the pillow. His head felt like a ton of bricks. He fell back down on the pillow. He reached to his right, but instead of hitting the flat surface of the mattress, he felt a soft body. He turned and came face-to-face with the back of a woman. He blinked a few times, and the realization of who was lying next to him jerked him awake.
Oh my goodness, what have I done? Jason asked himself. Heâd had numerous one-night stands, but never with a potential client. How
