of my problems had completely disappeared. The problem was, the problems had disappeared completely and I was going to have to figure out what I was going to do about them.
“Let me make today up to you Violet. I’ll take you out tomorrow in Paris, we’ll have an incredible day, and though make sure it’s something you never forget.”
    “Sounds like a plan.”
“For now, let’s get you to bed. It’s late and if you don’t get to sleep soon you’re going to wake up with a huge headache in the morning.” Christian glanced at the empty bottle. “Well, chances are you’re going to wake up with headache anyways.”
Sure enough, the next day I woke up to a pounding head. I down some headache pills and ordered a nice greasy breakfast from room service as I packed up my things and got ready to fly to Paris. Four hours later we were in what’s commonly known as the most romantic city in the world.
As we flew into the airport I saw the Eiffel Tower, standing tall above the rest of the city. I couldn’t believe it, I thought I would die without ever seeing it with my own eyes. As we drove through the streets to the hotel, I was amazed at how different this city was from London. The architecture was all quite different, the drivers a lot more aggressive, but I had to admit it was really beautiful. Cafés lined the streets, people walked slowly past enjoying their daily lives and the smell of bread wafted into the car from time to time from the various bakeries around.
When we got to the hotel, we unpacked and Christian told me to get ready for our date. I dressed in nicely, noticing on the way in that everyone in Paris seemed to be incredibly fashion forward. Christian took me by the hand and led me out to the waiting car. We drove first to a chocolate shop, where we had our own dedicated chocolatier who allowed us to taste every single one of the exquisite creations of the shop. I learned that the owner had been named the world’s best chocolatier five years running.
We came out at the shop and went to dinner, to the most amazing restaurant. I’ve no idea how much it costs since the menu didn’t have prices written on it, but I knew it was way too much. Christian ordered our food, speaking to the waiter in perfect French. Somehow I knew that this was the type of restaurant where France’s rich and famous dined as well. Despite the fact that we weren’t hidden away in the back of the restaurant, nobody seemed even notice we were there. I didn’t recognize any of the other diners, but I suspected they were in the upper echelons of French society as well.
When we finally came out of the restaurant, both of us full and elated, I thought our night was over. I expected the car to come pick us up and take us back to the hotel, but instead it drove in the other direction.
“Where are we going?” I asked Christian. After all, it was after 10 o’clock, and surely apart from the clubs there would be nothing open anymore in Paris.
“You’ll see” Christian replied with a smile and a wink, and as he came up to the tall, imposing structure I’d seen from the airplane, I finally realized where we were going.
“Do they really keep this open that late?” I asked. I realized how naïve I must’ve sounded later, but I really had no idea.
“No, the tower’s closed. But luckily, I have a few connections and with a little cash were going to get it all to ourselves. Wait here.”
Christian left the car and came back a few minutes later, motioning for me to follow him. I did so in awe as we were taken to an elevator which brought us up to the second floor before a gentleman led us to another elevator which brought us to the absolute top of the Eiffel Tower.
The gentleman said something to Christian in French, and then went back down. Christian smiled at me.
“We are completely alone up here, the man says he’ll come back in two hours to get us.”
I went over to the window, looking down on the city. It was
