been so unhappy for so long. Teaching wasn't an easy
profession, but whenever I had a rough day in the classroom I knew I was coming
home to the man of my dreams, and the things we did in the bedroom would always
make up for the travails that was part of life.

    Pounded by the Doctor

My best friend Ellen and I were
catching up over coffee one Saturday morning when I dropped a juicy morsel of
gossip right in her lap.

"You know my new neighbor in
6B? Paul, the hot young doctor? His friend from
college just came to visit, and he's even better looking than Paul!"

    "Really?" Ellen said,
her eyes lighting up. "Tell me more."

    "I don't know much
more," I admitted. "He's also a doctor; they were in the same
fraternity together in college."

    "Oh really? You know what
they say about guys from the same frat, don’t you? That they
have sex with each other? It's like this unspoken thing. As long as you
do it within the frat, it's not considered gay."

    "What ?! "
I was shocked. "I've never heard that before! Where did you hear about it?
On the internet?"

Ellen shook her head, then leaned
forward across the table and lowered her voice. "Everyone knows about it,
Katie. My brother went to school in Virginia, and he was in a frat. There was a
big scandal when he was discovered giving a brojob to one of the new pledges. I
guess the pledge's dad wasn't pleased when he found out, and my dad had to pay
a lot of money to hush it up. And then," her face glowed as she leaned
forward even further, excitement building in her eyes, "one day, I found
some old letters when I was searching for something in the attic. Apparently my
brother and this guy kept in touch, and reminisced about the wild, male-male
things that occurred during their college days. It’s so freaky to think about,
even for me, because I know they aren’t gay or anything, they just do it to
pass the time and get each other off when there isn’t an easy woman
around."

I sat there stunned for some time
before coming to my senses. "Ellen, just because a bunch of male-male sex

    occurred at your brother’s college,
doesn't mean every guy who belongs to a frat does it.”

    "Yes it does. Think about
it: Virginia is one of the most conservative places in the country. If they
were having

gay orgies in the common room, who
knows what goes on in a more liberal state, like California?"

"They had orgies ?! "   Now
I was really shocked—maybe she had a point after all.

" Oh yeah. And that's not all.
Other chapters would come and visit, and that's when the really bacchanalian
things happened."

I wondered if Ellen was putting
me on; it all sounded just too outrageous to be true. "Well how come
everyone who goes to a frat doesn't come out as gay later on in life? I mean , your brother seems pretty straight."

    Ellen lowered her voice again.
" Well of course. Once
you've left the frat, you're not allowed to ever talk about it. That's the rule . And like I said, they aren’t gay or
anything, they just do it to help each other out when they’re horny, that’s
all. You know my brother: he’s happily married with two kids. "

I shook my head in bewilderment.
I had never heard of any of this before, but in a weird, twisted way, it all
sort of made sense.

I walked home to my apartment
complex, grabbing my mail in the lobby before walking to the courtyard. I could
hear a couple of male voices talking by the pool, and when I turned the corner
into the courtyard, I saw Paul and his friend lounging in the pool chairs. It
was shaping up to be a hot, muggy summer day, perfect for a swim. My eyes
flicked over to Paul's body for a few seconds before he noticed me. He looked
even bigger and more muscular than usual, and I wondered if he was pumped from
working out, or something. His short brown hair was a
