primp for the cameras is such a hard job, right
Paige?” She nudged her.
Paige’s face started to burn and her mouth went dry.
She hadn’t been this close to Tyler yet, but she didn’t want to
look like a fool. Melanie was strong and bold; she needed to be
too. She smiled. “Really? I hadn’t noticed any muscles.”
Tyler’s eyes stayed on her and he moved in front of
her. “Is that so?”
She refused to look at his chest. Even though his
fitted shirt stretched tighter across those gorgeous muscles with
every breath he took. “Yes. I’m not into hockey players.”
A grin crept across his face. “Not very
adventurous.”
Melanie waved her hands in front of Tyler’s face,
breaking the stare he had locked on Paige. “Cut it out Ty. Sign the
damn jersey so we can go eat. I’m starving.”
Tyler blinked, and bent to sign the jersey. When he
straightened, he glanced at Paige one more time before posing for
the media.
“ All right, that’s enough your
majesty.” Melanie shook her head. “Off you go. Paige, let’s box
these up and take them up to our office.”
Tyler hadn’t budged from where he was standing. From
the corner of her eye, Paige could tell his eyes were on her as
they piled the jerseys into a box. Her heart pounded at his close
proximity. Why is he still here? They put the last jersey
down, but before either one of them could pick up the box, he
grabbed it off of the table and carried it off the ice alongside of
them.
“ Thanks Ty,” Melanie said. “It’ll
have to go up to our offices, so if you want to set it by the
locker room, we can collect it later. I’m starving; we need to meet
up in the Club area for lunch.”
“ Nonsense.” Tyler smiled, his eyes
flicking over to Paige and setting her heart racing again. “I’ll
take it up now.”
“ Tyler, that’s sweet, but I need to
go to the dining area, I’m already running late.”
It didn’t make sense to come all the way back after
lunch and collect the box, not when Tyler had so kindly offered to
help. Besides, shouldn’t they be encouraging him to be more
accommodating? Paige cleared her throat to sound as professional as
possible, even though her knees were shaking. “I’ll go with
him.”
“ It’s settled then. We’ll meet you
in the dining area, Mel.” Tyler turned to Paige. “I’ll be right
back, I have to go change into my shoes.” He disappeared into the
locker room.
Paige glanced around, but Melanie had already gone.
Her heart beat quicker at the thought of being alone with Ty. She
had difficulty keeping her shaking hands hidden when he was near
her, and hated how tongue-tied he made her. He was just a hockey
player and she knew that, but he was the hockey player in
Pittsburgh. Should she wait, or go and try to catch up with Mel?
But before she could talk herself into leaving, Ty returned.
He was too handsome for his own good, and that made
it hard for her to breathe. His shaggy hair kept falling into his
face, making him look cute and boyish. But it was his eyes, burning
hazel and intense, that made her stomach clench as he came towards
her.
Puffing out her chest, she took in a deep breath. She
couldn’t allow him to see the effect he was having on her. Guys
like him fed off that, and she was not about to give him that kind
of power. “Ready?” she asked.
“ Lead the way.” He smirked as his
eyes ran over her.
She strutted down the hall feeling his eyes still on
her, and warmth ran through her. The social media had been alive
with mentions of his antics, and she knew he was trouble, but that
didn’t mean she didn’t like his attention. She didn’t say a word
until they reached her office. “Just put them in here, thanks.”
“ Nice office.” He looked around.
Putting the box down on the floor, he sat on the edge of her desk.
Looking lazily at her with a small grin he said, “So, tell me about
Paige.”
With a huff she put her hand on her hip. “Well, she’s
hungry. So, get your ass off
