made me
feel even worse than I felt before.
    “Isabella!”
Dorian growled as he attempted to catch up with me.
    I
rolled my eyes. “Leave me alone. I am going home.”
    “No
you aren’t. You are home,” he said as he fell into step with me.
    “That
place isn’t my home. That place is…I don’t even know what it is. I am not going
back to what I was. Everyone needs to move on and leave me alone!” I countered.
    He
caught my arm forcing me to stop. I glared at him and he glared back at me.
“The Isabella I knew wouldn’t have given up no matter how difficult things
got.”
    “I
am not her! I don’t want to be her! I want to be left alone. I want to go to
college and have fun. I want to eventually get married and have children. Then
I want to grow old and die. I want to be normal, so just let me go please.” I
had started out yelling, but now I was pleading with him.
    “I
hate to be the one to tell you this but normal is not in your destiny. You are
immortal which means you cannot die. So all that will happen is you will watch
your husband and your children age and die. You will never have a normal life.
The closest thing to normal that you can have is if you make a life with people
like you. People who are in that house that you are refusing to go back too.”
He was glaring at me like I was being an insolent child.
    Everything
he was saying startled me. No one had mentioned I was immortal. I never even
really considered the idea. I knew I was supposedly some type of vampire, but they
could die. “Just leave me alone,” I said quietly then continued walking. I was
relieved that he didn’t follow.

    I
walked into my house and my mother was waiting. “I am sorry about all of this,”
she said quickly.
    “I
want to move on. Please just forget about everything. Let’s pretend none of it
happened,” I said hoping she would agree.
    She
looked at me a little surprised then nodded. “If that is what you want.”
    “It
is. I am going to bed. I have school in the morning,” I said quietly then
hurried upstairs. I opened my bedroom door and scowled. James was on my bed.
    He
smiled at me and stood. “You look grumpy.”
    “You
lied to me,” I growled.
    “Whoa,
I followed Alexander’s orders. I didn’t want to lie to you,” he said raising
his hands in surrender.
    I
rolled my eyes and flopped down on the bed. “Go away I have school in the
morning.”
    He
laughed. “You are going back to school after everything? What about getting
your memory back?”
    “I
don’t want it back. I am starting over. Now go away,” I said as I used the remote
to flip the TV on.
    “What?
I don’t understand. How could you just give up?” He moved so he was in front of
the TV. He wasn’t going to let me ignore him.
    I
scowled at him. “No one likes who I was. They barely like me now. I am not
going back to that. Now get out.”
    He
climbed on the bed. I was about to protest as he pinned me. “I am not leaving.
You are not giving up.”
    “I
am giving up, and you are leaving. Now get off me,” I countered.
    He
smiled playfully. “It wasn’t long ago that you liked being underneath me. In
the garden, and in the shower,” he teased as he nuzzled my neck.
    I
felt my cheeks redden. “I don’t remember so it didn’t happen.”
    “I’ll
help you remember,” he offered as he pressed his hips into me. I gasped when I
felt his erection press against me through his pants.
    My
eyes widened in surprise. “I am not having sex with you. I don’t even know
anything about you!” I squeaked.
    He
laughed. “You know everything about me.”
    I
pushed him, and he rolled off me and laid on his side. I stood quickly trying
to keep from blushing scarlet. “I am not the same girl I was. Now go. I will
see you at school tomorrow.”
    He
sighed. “Fine, I will see you in the morning,” he grumbled as he stood. He
walked up to me and leaned into me playfully. “You have a birthmark on your
upper thigh, it’s kind of
