And I don’t know what he thinks because I left.”

“Keeara, you need to call him and apologize for being rude. He's your boss now. Time to face the music, honey.” Lynn hid the grin as she walked away. She hadn’t seen that much fire in her daughter in a long time and didn’t care who the hell it was that did it as long as Keeara was happy, but she had a funny feeling that her daughter was facing a long and hard road ahead of her. As she sighed, she walked into the kitchen to pull out the cookies she had made for the kids.

Her life had changed so much over the last decade or two. She remembered how she had been in her daughter's shoes all those years ago. If it hadn’t been for the stubborn streak her husband had, she wouldn’t be where she is now. She had been so determined to have a career in the beginning. That was, until she had Scott. When she held him in her arms she knew that no other job would be satisfying. She wanted more children and a family. She had given up her career and stayed home with her children. It was the most exciting and rewarding career she could have ever thought imaginable. When her first grandchild had been born it had gotten even better. She got to spoil them rotten then send them home to their parents. She thought about Lewis and knew he had trials to face later on in life and hoped that she would be there to help her daughter through them. He was an exceptionally bright child but his social awkwardness would deter him if he let it. She knew with the family he was born into though that he would have all the support he could ever need.

Keeara stretched and looked over at her clock. It read 9 o’clock. She had stayed up late reading. She was normally a morning person but she was feeling lazy that day. She walked down the hall into the kitchen and grabbed a cup just as her mother walked in.

    “Shouldn’t you be at work?”

“I told you, Mom. I can’t work with that man.”

“Well, didn’t you at least call him?”At her sheepish look, her mother glared at her. “Keeara, I taught you better than that. Now who is looking like the bad one?” Keeara nodded as she scooted from the table towards her room. She was glad her parents had added onto the house. They had decided to keep her grandfather in the room he had shared with her grandmother. They then built on three more rooms, one being a master suite that her parents shared. She looked on the night stand and picked up her phone. There were five missed calls from the same number.

Scrolling down, she saw three text messages and read through them.

“You need to come in so we can talk.” “Damn it answer your phone.” “Fine if you won’t respond then I will come to get you.”

Shit. He was coming here. She looked in the mirror and then threw on her jeans and tank top. She would go riding so she wouldn’t be there when he got there. She had just gotten on her horse and was galloping away when she saw the dust coming from a car down the drive.

Chapter 6
Craig was pissed. The little hellcat didn’t even respond to him. Well he would find her and bring her back if he had to drag her kicking and screaming. He pulled up to the huge house and admired it. He gently knocked on the door. A very pretty woman opened the door and smiled at him sweetly. She looked remarkably similar to Keeara and he knew she had to be her mother.

“Mrs. Murray? Hi, I am Craig Jenkins. I’m looking for Keeara.”

“Yes, Mr. Jenkins, it is good to meet you.” Her smile was genuine as she shook his hand. This woman apparently didn’t have the same thoughts about the Jenkins as her daughter did. If he remembered correctly, his Uncle Willie had shot her and she shook his hand like he was just a normal person.

Lynn looked the man over. He was extremely handsome and looked to be fit too. If she was a little younger and not taken, she might just give her daughter a run for her money. Just then, Josh
