couldn’t help but feel extra happy today. Colin’s work had left her ass tender and her mind clear. Going after the sorority thing had been silly, but she hadn’t realized it might take away from others or send the wrong signals. She’d been selfish. He was right about that but then overly pushy about her academic history.
A sub with a high school education wasn’t good enough?
As soon as he walked in, she followed him into his office and locked the door behind her.
    “What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing. Well. About last night. I don’t want you prying into my family life.” She sat in the guest chair stiffly.
He sat behind the desk and looked at her. “Do you think I’m new? I’m not a child. We all have lives and histories that impact who we are. Finding out about that makes it a better play all around. It’s not judgment.”
“I just don’t want a shrink dom.” She folded her arms.
“I don’t want to just play or fuck. I said yes because I wanted a challenge and if you want to go slower, we can. But we do know each other. You’ve worked here for over a year. I always found you attractive. If I’d known you were a sub…” He smiled.
Her face felt hot. “Okay, fine. We’re not strangers, but you didn’t tell me the truth. You’re so orderly and neat.”
    “Anal?” he asked.
“Yes, why? You want sharing. You share first.” She knew most doms would have her on thin ice right now. “Remember I’m a sexual sub. If you want more than sex…then it’s equal.”
“Fair enough. My father was an officer in the Army. I was raised on bases for most of my life. He liked order and discipline. I don’t know any other way to be.” Colin shrugged. “I can be flexible to a point, and working with students, I’ve learned not to try to control every detail. I don’t expect it from others. But my house, my rules.”
She rolled his answer over in her brain. He was so casual about it, it had to be true. “You didn’t go into the Army?”
“No. I preferred academia. I’m not a fighter.”
Maybe not. But he was one hell of a lover. He waited patiently, and she felt as if someone had put her under a microscope.
“What was it like on an Army base?” she asked.
He shook his head. “My sharing time is over.” He booted up his computer.
She didn’t want him to think she was stupid or lazy in high school. “Okay, fine. In high school, my mother was ill. It wasn’t one little surgery or something easy either. So my focus wasn’t exactly where it should have been.”
Leaving out the part about dad or exactly what happened, she waited for him to grill her for details. Instead, he rounded the desk and knelt in front of her. Tears welled up unexpectedly. The anniversary for her mom was coming up fast, and she normally went numb. With Colin, how would she face it?
“I’m so sorry. What happened?” he asked.
She shook her head swallowed hard. He cared. He could put aside his schedule for things.
He stood up, lifted her from the chair and sat down in the chair while settling her in his lap. She tried to shrug it off. “Please, it’s okay. I don’t want to be pitied or treated as a child.”
“I think you know better. I’m not Daddy Dom.” He kissed her neck. “I gave you a hard time last night because I thought you were boy crazy. I’m sorry.”
“You didn’t know. I should’ve told you. I sure acted boy crazy at the party this week. How did you know about the contest and everything?” she asked to detour the conversation.
He wiped her tears away. “Nothing is secret here. The truth will always come out. That’s life in a small college town. I’d rather have a private relationship than a wild orgy. I’ll keep you busy. I know you’re smart enough for college, so it didn’t make sense to me. The truth really does explain a lot.”
She didn’t want to talk feelings now. In time, he’d get more details out of her but not at work. “So you sort of owe me for last
