with
you that every time I saw you, it hurt."
"You did? I mean you are?" She was confused. She
thought all the years of teasing in their youth was all in good
fun. She had no idea he felt anywhere close to what she felt. She
knew that this week of passionate sexual exploration was two adults
succumbing to their desires, which were evident in every sexual
situation. However, that romantic part of her always wanted more
with him. She had never thought that he did as well.
When he spoke again, a questioning smile was on
his face. He was lowering to his knees; one to the floor and one
bent to stabilize himself as his hand held hers while he kissed it.
"Marry me Hope. Marry me and make me the happiest man alive. I
could have planned this better. I wanted this whole week to be a
fantasy for both of us." He looked up at her and smiled. "I don't
have a ring just yet. I had no idea how receptive you would be when
I showed. If all I get is one terrific week from you, I will still
feel like the luckiest man alive."
She bent down to kiss him before answering, and
then she stood back up as a yes resounded through the room.
"You mean that?" He questioned as he stood.
"Yes. I mean it. Whole-heartedly. Jayce, I have
wanted you for so long. I have felt passionate feelings in our
youth, and as we grew into adults, but I refrained thinking how
immature it was of me to think you might even be interested in me
this way. After this week, I was dreading leaving you." She felt
relief as she said all that.
His lips dropped to hers in a possessive kiss as
he claimed her with a desire filled. When he pulled away, he spoke
more determined than ever. "Then you won't leave me. You'll stay in
Denver with me, or I'll move my firm to California. I just can't
have you leave me today."
She laughed lightly. "I guess we can figure that
all out later. I can work from Colorado just as well as Texas as my
sales job primarily consists of Internet work. I'll call my boss
later. For now, I don't want to leave you, now or ever."
He let out a huge breath of air and felt the
weight of the world lift off his shoulders as he looked down into
the eyes of his future wife. "You know. I wanted to have a ring to
propose. That is why I wanted to drive you to Denver. I wanted to
talk you into this idea of marrying me with my professional lawyer
maneuvers and then there is a jeweler in Frisco that I visited last
week. They had several beautiful selections that I thought stopping
there for lunch as an excuse and then walking you in would be a
romantic way to start."
She looked into his eyes of romantic hope and
smiled. She leaned upwards and kissed him on the lips. When she
finally spoke, she knew that he was the right man for her. "I knew
you had a romantic heart. I have felt it through your posts lately
and things Ali had mentioned. I guess I never thought I would get
the chance to experience it. I fantasized about you in ways that
are so naughty and explicate, and then you showed up and we lived
through those dreams turning them into reality." Then it hit her
with the word reality. "Oh God! What will Ali think, say, I mean
she might freak?" She tossed out there with worry to her
thoughts.
He kissed her gently to silence her and pulled
back. "She already knows. She has known how I have felt for a while
and quite honestly; you are not that great at hiding it yourself.
Ali will tell me every time you asked about me, joked about me or
casually mentioned sexual suggestions about me. I hope I lived up
to your expectations?" He joked lightly.
It felt good to get all of this out in the open.
Knowing now that Ali knew, there was not anyone else she worried
that all of this would bother. Their parents were so open and
honest about all of them that she could easily see Ali's mother's
warm embrace of happiness and Jayce's father's approval of joy. As
for her own parents, they always talked about Jayce and Ali if they
were family, and she knew her mother would approve, seeing that
