Impulse
that they could do this again
and soon.
She started out idle conversation at the
breakfast table. "So when do plan on driving back to Denver?"
"Whenever I want." He casually replied. His
demeanor had become reserved since the moment they had woken up in
each other's arms naked that morning. He pleasured her with his
hands while kissing her neck and holding her closely to his naked
body. She dozed back off afterwards and awoken to a fully dressed
man and a packed bag by the front door. He had started on a
breakfast, but she was finding the thought of eating food a hard
endeavor, as she wanted nothing more than to get him naked again
and fell sated one last time. Those last three words in her mental
thought process caused her heart to hitch. She did not want this to
end. She wanted this to be the beginning. She needed to close the
sale and make it possible even if the rejection hurt like a son of
a bitch. She needed to do this for herself more than anything she
had ever done.
She finally found her voice, a timid one at
that. "I see. Well, I flew into Aspen. I rented from the airport
here. I guess I should check my flight. I fly out at three this
afternoon."
"Cancel it." He tossed out there, and a moment
of excitement filled her mind.
"Let me drive you into Denver." He offered.
"But I will miss my flight to Texas." She
stammered. Wishing she could find that expert salesmanship she was
paid for, instead she felt her heart break that this was ending so
casually.
"Look." He spoke up with conviction and then
cleared his throat. "I wasn't going to suggest this, at least not
right away, so soon after we made love again this morning. I wanted
your answer with a clear head, not an orgasmic haze of some silly
notion."
She had to stop him right there. She could not
take any rejection this early in the morning. He was leading into
his intro to move on, and she was at her mental wit's end of where
this fantasy could go. The words yelled out before she knew it.
"Stop! Stop talking. I need you to leave."
He looked confused and hurt suddenly. She did
not know what had come over her, but she knew she would not have
him leave with a causal see you later kiss and then they go back to
their lives as if nothing happened. She wanted so much more now
that they had spent the week together, making love, fulfilling
passionate romantic memories of a trip of a lifetime for her. She
wanted him to ask her to stay, to possibly marry him, to tell her
they could make a life together, the two of them together as this
week told her everything that she ever wanted in a man was sitting
right there in front of her.
She stood up quickly and shoved her chair into
the kitchen table, leaving her untouched food on the plate. As she
rushed past him, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back
into his body, holding her from moving, wrapping his arms around
her quickly and kissing the side of her neck. "Don't go!" His
pleading words filled her ears with inspiration. "I don't want you
to leave. I don't want this to end. I need you. I need you to drive
with me to Denver, so I can talk to you about something."
She turned in his arms to face him and looked at
his pleading eyes of desperation. "What? What is it?" She
questioned him with her soft tone of anxiety to this moment that
this could all end here today and nothing would ever come of
it.
He looked down into her eyes and then placed a
soft gentle kiss on her lips before speaking. His voice held
determination yet an emotion, she could understand all too well,
fear. "I need to talk to you. To ask you something. Something I
have thought long and hard about asking you for a while. I know we
only know each other through Ali, but the few times we have seen
each other over the years; I have held my reservations close to my
heart. I thought you were an unfulfilled fantasy from my youth. I
even came here telling myself that this was all it was. Even
though, over the years, I have fallen so deeply madly in love
