be irresistible.
Sandy hoped today would go quickly at
work and that tonight with Jack would be as nice as the very first date.
“Sandy, good morning. Did
you get the flowers?” Mr. Johnson said before she had placed her purse inside
her desk.
“Yes, thank you very
much.”
“So have you thought about
it yet?”
“I have another date
tonight with the guy I was talking about yesterday. Let’s just wait and see
how that one goes.”
“Oh.” He said.
If that was the only time today he
bugged her Sandy would be thrilled, but she was sure it would not end up being
that way at all. Sure enough he came back from lunch and handed her a small
package.
“What’s this for?” Sandy
asked him, looked at the little package that was wrapped nicely. It looked
like it had come from Niemen Marcus.
“Just something I picked
up at lunch for you.”
“I can’t accept this Mr.
Johnson.”
“Nonsense, it’s for all
the hard work you’ve done for me through this past year.”
Sandy knew it wasn’t worth fighting over
the fact of whether or not to open it. She pulled the paper open and the box
to find a beautiful and very expensive diamond bracelet.
“Mr. Johnson, really? I
can’t take this.”
“Sorry it’s yours, and I’d
like to do you’re review today as well. You want me to help you put that on?”
“I think I can get it just
fine.” She tried to put it on but couldn’t, so he came over to her desk and
helped her. As he put his hand on her arm, he slid it up a bit, a tingle rose
on her skin, but not a good one.
“Thanks.” Sandy said, and
pulled her arm away.
“Don’t forget about the
review, say around three today we’ll go over it.” He walked into his office.
She looked down at the bracelet it was
very beautiful. It must have cost him a pretty penny, but how could she give
it back to him without upsetting him?
Three o’clock came quickly and she
knocked on his office door. “Come in.” He said.
“I’ve got the review here,
are you ready?”
“Yes of course, come in
and close the door.”
Walking into his office she closed the
door, and for some unknown reason she was very worried about being in the same
office as him right now.
“Well Sandy I know you’ve
seen the review since you’ve typed it up. But the biggest thing is discussing
your raise.” He said.
“Right. Well I was
thinking since you’ve already given me this wonderful and very beautiful
bracelet it was a raise?”
“No, that was just a thank
you for your services. I’m going to give you a raise of $1 an hour. It’s not
as much as I would like to do, but I just can’t see the value of giving you
more than that, at least not until I find out about this weekend. If you
decide to go out, it will be a bigger raise.”
“Oh okay.” Sandy knew
that this was not very professional, but right now she just couldn’t say yes,
even though the money would be nice, it wasn’t her style.
“Have you decided about
this weekend yet?” He asked once more.
“I’ll let you know
tomorrow.” Sandy said after a bit of consideration.
“Alright.”
She went back out to her desk and worked
for the last hour of the day. Wanting to get home and have a shower and get
ready for the night. Sandy also wanted to take off this bracelet, it would
