my back. I screamed, and jizz rained down on my body, soaking my skin and hair. The brand was rubbed with oil and cum, before the crowd withdrew and stood in a circle around me. They held hands; heads bowed, chanting softly in Russian. They blew out the candles, and my mind went blank.

Chapter Six
I woke up in my bed in Victor’s mansion. I shot up and looked around. My mind was clear, and the brands ached on my side and back. I slid the camisole I wore aside and looked at the mark on my torso. It just looked like a small X about half an inch in height. The skin around it was puffy and angry red. I winced looking at it and slid out of bed to look into the mirror that hung over the dressing table. I craned my neck and lifted the camisole to study my back. On my spine was a tiny square on its side with a right angle pointing downward.
They ’d gone through a lot of trouble for such innocent-looking symbols. They weren’t nearly as intricate as the ones on Alexi’s chest and arms. I went to look out the tall windows that overlooked the gardens below. The day was dawning bright, and yellow light lay across the grounds. The gardens were alive with colorful flowers, and a flock of birds lifted from the lawn and into the sky. I felt fresh and free, remembering everything that had happened. It didn't bother me one bit. In fact, it made me feel alive and ablaze with new knowledge of myself.
I backed away from the window and went to shower. On the bathroom counter was a small bottle of oil with a note attached to it. It read: “Rub salve into brands.” I did as the note advised and then took a shower. The hot water burned on my branded skin, and when I got out I rubbed the salve on again. I dressed in a loose-fitting maxi dress and went to knock on Alexi’s door. He was not inside. I heard voices from the dining room and went to find their source. When I entered the dining room, the room’s two inhabitants quickly stood up and bowed their heads slightly at me. It was Alexi and Victor. Alexi held out his hand indicating that I should sit next to him. I moved gracefully through the room, feeling the men’s attention and respect wash over me.
“ Where is everyone else?” I asked as I sat down next to Alexi.
“ They have all gone. You slept from two days. We were beginning to worry you would become dehydrated. But here you are, awake at last,” said Alexi, kissing my cheek. A butler came across the room and served me breakfast of poached eggs, toast, and coffee. I suddenly realized I was famished, and ate greedily. The men continued to converse about the weather and local politics— a bland, polite conversation. When I had cleared my plate, I finally spoke.
“ So, gentlemen, what was the other night all about? And what are these brands for?”
“ Did you not enjoy the rituals, Julia?” asked Victor.
“ I’m not exactly sure 'enjoy' is the correct word,” I said, sipping my coffee. I could feel a kind of deference toward me coming from them. I didn’t know how I knew; I just did.
“ What is the correct word, my Darling?” asked Alexi.
“ What is the correct word of an endlessly orgasmic group sex ritual?” I said waving my hand. Then I smiled. I could feel they were worried. “I suppose you could use the word ‘enjoyed'. But I feel hopelessly out of the loop. I was not informed of our clandestine tryst. I’m a little hurt. Why would you keep it from me?” There was a new power in me. But the power I felt emanating from them dwarfed mine considerably.
Alexi chuckled. “ We could not tell you. It would have ruined the surprise,” he said in a mocking tone that matched mine, but his voice changed, and he said, “It was your initiation. You must walk in unprepared, or the magic will not work.”
“ Magic?” I said, raising my tone.
Victor laughed wholeheartedly, throwing back his blond head. “We are magi. Warlocks and witches of an ancient order. And now, you are one of us. I hesitated to bring
