direction as the other seven zombies. Gina ran at it and faded to the left drawing it's attention to that side. Then she spun to the right, ducked down, and took off both of the zombie's legs below the knees as she came up. As it fell to the ground she gave it a short little love tap to the back of the head with her sword spilling it's brains. Then she wiped her sword off on the fallen zombies shirt.
“I don't know about you but I feel a whole lot safer all of a sudden,” Cindy said.
Chapter 3
Dr. Parks threw Lily over his shoulder. Her eyes came open and she looked at me and smiled. I hoped she had something planned because I was sure out of ideas. The zombie made his way over to the gurney where I was still strapped down. He began fumbling with the straps in an effort to get me loose. He was having trouble keeping Lily balanced on his shoulder and getting the straps undone and I could see the anger on his face. It started to moan just like the rest of them did when they were getting ready to feed.
“If you bite me I'll be of no use to you. I can't get you on that chopper if I'm dead.”
He bent down and put his ugly face right in mine. “I'm not going to eat you yet. These fucking straps are pissing me off. My hands aren't working right.” His fetid breath smelled worse than he did and I thought I was going to vomit in his face. I wondered if that would piss him off or make him hungry. Fortunately, I was able to keep from hurling in his face so we didn't have to find out.
Dr. Parks went back to pulling on the straps binding my wrists. While he was fighting with them Lily reached in the pocket of his lab coat and grabbed the key he had used to remove the chains from her wrists. She held it tightly in her fist waiting for the right moment to pass them to Sergeant Adams.
“Tell you what doc you get my wrists loose and I'll take care of the rest. Better yet, why don't you let the Sergeant out of his handcuffs and let him get me out of here?”
“Yeah doc. Let me out of here. I'll give you a hand.”
“I've almost got the straps off of you. I'm dead not brain dead. When I get you off that table you had better not try anything Captain. All it takes is one little bite and your little girlfriend is dead.”
“Just get me loose. I'll get you out of here before the Calvary arrives.”
“What I want you to do is get me to General Simmons. He's the one I want.”
“Then we're all in agreement here doc. My mission was to get you out of this place and take you to the General. If that's what you want too then we're all on the same page. Hell you could even bring the Sergeant with us.”
“You want him out of there pretty badly. That's not going to happen. I said I'd let him live and I will keep my word on that.”
It took the zombie about five minutes to get me loose. Lily kept looking at me like I was supposed to do something to help him. All I could do was wait for him to get my hands free. When he was finally able to do that I was able to remove the straps from my ankles and the one across my forehead. I sat up from the table and looked around the room. I could see our weapons on the counter on the far side of the room. John would have to bring those to us when he got loose. I needed to create a distraction so Lily could get the keys to the Sergeant.
“I see you looking around. Remember all it takes is one little bite.”
“Just trying to get my bearings. Did you have to hit me so hard? My head is killing me. I feel like I'm going to throw up.”
“You
