Eric. He left the meeting and went to his control room and began to search. He found some of what he wanted then sat back to consider. After a while, he had a visitor. Prometheus had been checking the log and wanted to know what the “odd feelings” he had noted meant. That jogged Eric’s memory, and as he looked at the dates on the log and the information on his screen, things began to fall into place. He needed to see the security guard that had been on the door, so he went downstairs and asked him a couple of questions.
The guard said, “I could not really describe the cleaner I saw on the two dates you are interested in, Sir. It was my first day on the door, and I was more interested in checking the passes. However, I do remember her name.”
Sally, the cleaner in question, was sent for, and when questioned she finally told how she had had been taken ill in Jessica’s flat after having afternoon tea with her and at Jessica’s suggestion allowed Jessica to help her, as she did not want to let the club down at the last minute and could not afford to lose her job. Eric took the information and spoke to the other Doms and Dommes. He left Sally outside the door until he had explained his idea then he called her inside.
“At the moment you have done nothing really wrong, and we are willing to overlook the failure to tell us what you had done. You should have telephoned and reported that you were sick, and we would have found someone else or given extra to the other cleaners to cover your work. All cleaners are vetted and should not give their passes to anyone. We are going to get this sorted out and you can help us, but under no circumstances must you tell anyone what has been discussed in this room, least of all Jessica. After all, she has got you into trouble, so you owe her no loyalty.”
He outlined his plan and told her that she must call when next she was ill at Jessica’s flat and someone would take her to a doctor’s office for tests, but she must call as soon as Jessica had left the building to go and do her work. Eric’s plan was set in motion.
That evening, Jessica was allowed to overhear a conversation between Mistress Catriona and Master Prometheus about the special meeting of Doms to take place the following day to discuss “the disgraceful business of those abusive e-mails.” They knew she would not be able to resist overhearing what they intended, especially as they said they would be summoning Emma to question her.
“I do have progress to report,” said Eric as Emma flew to greet him, “and you will be coming to the special meeting of the Doms tomorrow.”
He told her and Jack what he thought had happened but said they had no proof, so they had to catch her red-handed. He saw that Emma was on the one hand relieved that it would soon all be over and on the other furious at Jessica, but in the end she agreed to play it whatever way Eric wanted her to, as he’d known she would.
Chapter Thirteen
The next day, the Doms all collected in Prometheus’s office. Eric had been called when Sally was taken ill and Jack had taken her to be tested. The guard also called him when Sally’s ID was used, and then he watched on camera as Jessica went into Prometheus’s office and did not come out before the Doms and Dommes started to arrive. He took Emma in, and she listened to the pretended anger of the Doms over the e-mails. All of a sudden Eric wrenched open the door to the cupboard, and Master Prometheus said, “Won’t you join us, Jessica?” She came out into the office, and all the club’s Doms and Dommes looked at her.
“Sally is at present being tested to see what exactly you put in her drink. Care to tell us where you got whatever it is?” Eric asked.
“It is Emma you should be looking at. She sent me some horrible e-mails, and I wanted to see her get her just desserts,” Jessica protested.
“Do you have the e-mails still?” Eric asked.
“Oh, yes I kept them in case. I did try to
