it’s me.”
“What are you doing here?”  The human sat up in his bed and looked Carr over.  “I mean, I thought maybe I was going crazy.  I was with you two and then I was back in the hotel, at the same moment I’d left.”
Carr sat down on the edge of the bed.  “No, you’re not crazy.  I knew I’d take things too far if you remained there and so close.”
“I’m glad to see you.  Glad to know I’m not insane.”  The human frowned.  “Why did Olivier pick me?”
    “He didn’t tell you?”
Julian sat back on the headboard and gazed at Carreau.  “Not exactly.  I mean, he gave me a reason, but I don’t know how much I trust that demon.”
Good.  Don’t trust him.   “What did he say?”
“He said the two of you were in Vegas and saw me playing.  And then…” The human trailed off and the air thickened between them.
    “And then, what?”
“That you were interested in me,” Julian answered.  “I laughed it off.  I’m heterosexual, but after I saw you … well …”
    “Well?”
“I doubted.  I’ve heard the phrase gay for you , but always thought it was bullshit.”  Julian looked away and shook his head.  “I’m the straightest guy I know.  I have no problem with gay guys, seriously, but this just feels … weird.”
Carr rose from the mattress and stopped at the bed’s poster at the end corner.  He leaned against it and stared at Julian.  “I make you uncomfortable?”
“No!”  Julian got out of bed and walked closer. “Yes.  I don’t know.  I feel very confused.”
Carreau stared into Julian’s eyes, the craving growing each second.  He didn’t want to scare Julian off, but he also suddenly needed the human to understand the raw need coursing through his veins.
“And then you look at me like that, and I don’t feel confused at all,” Julian whispered.
Carr grabbed the man’s arm and drew him into a tight embrace.  Their lips collided in a battle of wills, one of them a strong demon not willing to concede the alpha role, the other a confused human not accustomed to being led.  Carr won out, of course, forcing Julian to accept his beta status.  Driving the kiss, Carr let Julian know in no uncertain circumstances that he was the one in charge.
Julian pulled away, panting and slightly out of breath.  “This feels weird.  I’m usually the aggressor.”
Carr pulled Julian back into his arms.  “You haven’t even begun to see an aggressor, human.”  Carr enclosed Julian’s open mouth and pushed his tongue inside, sweeping the male’s flavor into his own mouth.  Cinnamon toothpaste and another flavor that was Julian’s swirled over Carr’s taste buds and he drew the human closer, rubbing his hardening cock against Julian’s abdomen.
Julian’s hard shaft poked into the top of Carr’s thigh and made him groan with need.  He wanted to rip off the human’s clothes and force him down to the bed to take his due.  Instead he broke the kiss and stepped away, his heart thundering in his ears.  His hands itched to reclaim the wounded looking male and finish the deed, but there was too much at stake.
“Why did you stop?”  Julian asked lowly, his breath coming in short pants.
“I can’t touch you again.  Not while Olivier owns your contract.”
Julian smiled wickedly.  “Rules are made to be broken.”
Carr stepped back a little more.  Yes, he wanted to break all the rules when it came to Julian, but he couldn’t.  “If Olivier wins our game, he gets to rule the underworld for one day.  And he could start another war.  The last one raged for a millennia and billions died on many planes, including yours.  I can’t let it happen again.”
Julian’s face fell.  “I thought all demons wanted war and plague and all that jazz?  Why do you fight for peace?”
“Disappointed I’m one of the good guys?”
Julian shook his head.  “Absolutely not.  It makes me feel better knowing you apparently have some kind of
