Asking For Trouble
the process. On her way out though, she'd hurt
him worse...she'd come on to his father for money to pay for
medical school.

And now, he'd had sex with Jazzie, a
twenty-seven-year old virgin, a relationship waiting to happen. He
should have just stopped, but he couldn't, because even though she
was a virgin, she was the most passionate, sexual woman he'd been
with in years, not to mention so beautiful it was like staring at
the sun when he looked at her.

    The overprotective brothers she'd been
telling him about would probably kill him, if they found out. Beau
Bowman was a twenty-six year old Texas Ranger for God's sake, he
had worked hard to get where he was so young, worked his ass off to
get perfect grades in college, and be at the top of his class at
the police academy. One day he hoped he might even get on with the
feds. Getting into a scuffle with anyone, especially over a
situation like this, could damage or even ruin his career.

No, the best thing he could do would be run,
not walk, away from Jazzie Ramos.

"We better get dressed...the boat will be
back to get us shortly," he told her shortly and dropped a kiss on
the top of her head. Beau took one more deep inhale of her exotic
scent committing it to memory, because that was all he'd have left
of this woman after tonight. This was not going to happen
again...she'd gotten what she wanted, he'd done the same, and now
they'd go their separate ways.

Her silky black hair brushed his chest as
she nodded, then she placed a lingering kiss over his heart, and he
swallowed down the emotion that surged up to choke him.

Beau went in the water and got cleaned up,
then walked back over to the bed and picked up his clothes and
shook them out, before he put them back on. Jazzie was very quiet,
he noticed, as she went down to the shoreline and did the same.
before putting her clothes back on as well. Once they were dressed,
they walked back to the table, where the now cold meal was
congealing, and sat down.

"There's dessert, if you want some," he
offered in the uncomfortable silence, then uncovered the Poe
sitting at the edge of the table, then handed her one.

"No thank you," she muttered without looking
at him. He wondered if she was embarrassed now, because they'd made
love, or if she regretted it.

His earlier concern about being used faded a
little, but was replaced with fear that she'd ask him for more than
he was willing to give. She seemed moody and emotional now, which
didn't bode well for him, and extracting himself from the
situation.

"What's wrong?" he asked her, dreading the
answer.

She took a deep breath then looked up at
him, and although she was smiling, it didn't reach her stunning
chocolate brown eyes. They were suspiciously moist in the orange
glow from the tiki lights surrounding the table. Oh god, not tears,
please he begged silently.

"Nothing, I'm fine," she told him with a
watery chuckle, then added, "Just still in shock, I guess...I wish
we had more time here." She dragged her eyes from his and looked
down at her hand on the table and fiddled with the fork beside her
plate.

"I only booked the motu for two hours, and
that's about up," he said and looked down at his watch. He would
love more time with her too, but he wasn't going to let himself
have it, even if he'd booked the island for all night. Jazzie Ramos
was dangerous to his peace of mind, and the life he'd built for
himself in Lubbock. Just then he heard the faint sound of a boat
motor break the stillness of the night, and breathed a sigh of
relief.

"Sounds like our ride is here," he said and
got up quickly, then picked up the duffle and held his hand out to
her. The faster he could get off this island and away from the
temptation that was Jazzie Ramos, the better.

Jazzie sat there looking up at him with
vulnerability in her eyes and her lips wobbled then she said,
"Yeah, I guess it's time to go. Thank you for the surprise, it
