commit? It would break her.
Relief washed over her when a knock sounded on the front door, drawing his attention away from her. He grabbed his sunglasses from the table and slid them in place. Leaning into her, he growled, “We will finish this conversation later.”
She was afraid of that.

Ty opened the door and stepped aside to allow Cyrus and Amissa to enter his small beachfront home in Seaside, Oregon. Cyrus nodded to him as he passed, then he gaze fell on Ash and a wide smile replaced his normally serious features. Ty tracked the griffin as he advanced toward Ashlynn while Ty bent to allow Amissa to kiss him on the cheek. Although he trusted Cyrus like a brother, he didn’t like the other male so close to Ash. Which confused the hell out of him.
Ash didn’t belong to him, so why did he give a shit who she hugged?
Cyrus scooped Ashlynn up in a tight embrace. Ty growled and closed in on them. Ashlynn narrowed her eyes at him and pushed out of the griffin’s hold. Before Ty could say anything, Amissa stepped forward, arms crossed. “Who are you?”
Ashlynn smirked. “Ashlynn, daughter of Artemis.”
Amissa drew back slightly as if surprised then turned to Ty. He held out a hand and when she placed hers in it, he explained. “Ashlynn is here to help me with some things.”
“Cyrus wanted me to stay home, but I wanted to see you. Why haven’t you come to visit?” She pursed her lips and glared at him.
Ty glanced to Cyrus then Ashlynn and sighed. He really didn’t want Amissa brought into it. The less she knew the safer she was, or so he told himself. But his daughter was as stubborn as he and her mother. “Amissa, please sit and don’t speak until I’m done explaining.”
She stared at him for a few moments, her jaw working. Finally she paced to the couch and sat. Cyrus chose to stand against the wall behind her. Ty removed his shades and scrubbed a hand over his face. He met Amissa’s stare and told her how he got the scars and why his eye would never shift back to human. “I killed the female responsible and it turned out she was Eros’s daughter. Now the god of desire wants me sentenced to death. That’s why Ashlynn is here.”
Amissa jerked forward, but Cyrus rested his hands on her shoulders before she could lunge for Ashlynn. “She can go back and tell them it was self-defense.”
Ashlynn shook her head. “It’s not as easy as it sounds. The gods’ law is different from the human ones you are used to. I was sent to bring him in or find evidence of his innocence.”
Ty dropped into the chair directly across from Amissa. “We were attacked at Ashlynn’s apartment and Eros paid me a little visit. He overheard me tell Ash about you and now he is looking for you. Your life is in danger because you are my daughter. You must go back to the griffin clan until this is cleared up.”
Amissa shook her head and folded her arms. “I’m not going anywhere.”
“Amissa,” Ty and Cyrus growled at the same time.
She pressed her lips together and stared at Ty. Defiance settled into her features, reminding Ty of Sophia. As much as he wanted to hate the storm daemon, she had been his friend. Amissa jiggled her foot. “I’m not leaving. I’ll stay and fight. I finally found my father and, damn it, I want to fight to keep him.”
“Knowing Cyrus, I guessing you’ve gone through some brutal training?” Ashlynn broke her silence.
Amissa’s lips lifted and she glanced at Ashlynn. “Every freaking day from the time he took over my guardianship.”
Ashlynn met Ty’s glare before asking her next question. “What about your powers?”
Amissa shifted in her seat. “I can shift into a dragon.”
Ashlynn paced to the window and said, “No, I mean the power you got from your mother.”
“I can control the elements, but I’ve never tested the extent of them.”
Cyrus spoke next. “We were always afraid she’d draw attention to herself, so we haven’t explored her daemon
