    Regardless, she didn’t know if she could fight the attraction even if she knew it was only going to be a sexual relationship.     Chapter Four
    First Touch
     
     
                  Kristen had dressed for work meticulously. She wanted to be pretty but not suggestive in any way. Kimberly was watching her with a smile.
    “I’ve never seen you care so much about what you wear. You must really like this guy.”
    “I just want to look nice and professional. He did give me the money for this program and I want him to feel his money is well-spent.” It sounded like a lie even to her own ears.
    “Right. That’s the reason you’ve put on your prettiest summer dress to go to work. The one you only wear on special occasions. I guess professionalism’s also the reason you left your hair down and actually fixed it today.”
    Kristen answered by sticking her tongue out at Kimberly. Not her most mature gesture but it seemed appropriate.
                  Kristen arrived early because she wanted to be prepared for him. But he was already there and she frowned because he had stolen her moment to be alone and strategize.
    “Did you get the flowers?” he asked.
    “Yes. Thank you,” she said, purposely not making a big deal out of them.
    “Will you have dinner with me tonight?” he asked. When she hesitated he added, “We could get a lot more done if you would just agree and get it out of the way. Then I won’t be pestering you all day to get my way.”
    Even though it sounded a bit like black mail to her she agreed to keep the peace. It wasn’t like he was going to rape her or anything. He would just try and seduce her and she had turned down scores of men in the past so she could do the same to him. She wouldn’t think about how none of them made her heart jump out of her chest, or her pulse race. She would push that thought out of her mind and then deal with it all when the time came.
                  The day was spent making the finishing touches on the center and planning for the opening day ceremonies. Shanna had come in on time and she was very helpful. Keeping busy helped take Kristen’s mind off Logan and her evening with him. Shanna would look at the two of them and smile and when Logan was out of hearing distance, Kristen couldn’t take it anymore.
    “What?” Kristen said to her.
    “I was just thinking that if Mr. Hot Pants looked at me the way he looks at you, I’m not sure I could ignore him the way you do. Now don’t think I can’t see that when he’s not looking, you check him out pretty good yourself.”
    Kristen didn’t know how to respond. She could lie or just tell the truth and she had always gone with the truth so why change now?

    “No. I think you have it covered. Now he doesn’t even try and hide what he is thinking. He just looks at you like you’re his next meal,” Shanna said, laughing.
