that does the trick with less drama.
“Hey, don’t worry. If you don’t want Ace to bother you, let me know, and I will just talk to him.”
I shake my head slightly. “No it’s fine. I’m sure he forgot all about me when that girl, Porsche, showed up. Thanks Blaze, for being a good friend.” I lean forward and give him a hug.
He wraps his arms around me and kisses my forehead.
“No problem. I kind of figured you weren’t into me that much when we kissed.”
Blushing, I turn my head to the side and then finally, when I get the nerve, I look up into his face.
“I’m sorry. Ever since the diner it’s been Ace that has had my attention.” Nodding his understanding of what I just said, tears fill my eyes knowing that I led him on. It breaks my heart.
The door flies open and there standing in the doorway is Ace. He’s breathing hard, and his eyes are filled with fire.
“Alison,” he whispers, but I’m not sure what to say or do.
I still have my arms around Blaze when the door opens and I see Ace standing there. I look from him to Ace and my eyes widen in horror. Ace is staring at Blaze’s arm that is around my waist. Shit this isn’t going to end well. Ace takes a couple of breaths. “What the fuck is going on?” The sound of his voice makes me shiver.
Blaze gets up and stands in front of me. “Nothing, we were just talking.” Ace doesn’t seem to believe him.
As I look up at Blaze, giving him a tiny smile, I get up from the bed and I walk over to stand at the foot of the bed. My voice is ragged from all the crying. “What do you want, Ace?”
Walking into the room towards me, he stops in front of me and looks down. I don’t want to look at him. I can’t let him see me on the verge of tears.
I feel a warm breath on my ear and Ace’s husky voice whispering, “Alison, please look at me.”
As I lift my head to look at Ace, I see Blaze standing there looking a little uncomfortable. “I’m going to leave you guys alone so you can talk.”
He must see the look of distress on my face because he comes over to me and gives me a little nod. “Don’t worry. Ace won’t hurt you. I am sure whatever happened is a misunderstanding, and he just wants to talk. He’s not a bad guy, Alison.”
I hope he’s right, but I am not worried he will hurt me physically. I’m worried about my heart. I am not sure if I can deal with getting played and rejected once he gets what he wants from me.
I hear the door shut and look around the room. Ace is standing in front of me and Blaze is gone. I must have been in La-La Land for a minute. I don’t remember saying bye to Blaze.
Ace sits on the bed where, I was just sitting moments before and signals me to take a seat beside him. Sitting down on the bed, I hear him sigh as he runs his hands over his face.
“I want to tell you everything,” Ace says while looking at his hands.
“Can we go to my room? It’s bigger, and I have a couch. We can sit and talk.” Nodding my okay, we head to his room down the hall, just past the bathroom.
Ace unlocks the door. What is with them all locking their doors? As if he can read my mind, Ace speaks up. “We lock our doors because we have a lot of people around, and we don’t want anyone stealing anything.”
Ace opens the door to his room and as soon as we step inside the room, I’m floored.  His bed is huge. There are three huge floor-to-ceiling windows that must be beautiful in the morning when the sun rises. I see a closed door as I turn to face him. Before I get a chance to ask him where that door leads to, he says, “That’s the bathroom.”
“Wow, you have your own bathroom? That is so cool.”
I hear him chuckle and sits on the couch, patting the space beside him. Oh God, why am I so nervous. We’re just going to be talking. Jesus’s calm down, Alison.
I head over to the couch and sit down. There’s a brief silence between us before Ace turns to face me. Grabbing my legs, he sits me fully on the
