which she covered her sore breasts with.  She then put her t-shirt and jumper over the top.  When she glanced up she found Mark was pretty much dressed too.  He had his shirt and tie looped loosely around her neck.  His trousers were o n but he left his suit jacket strewn across the floor of the car.
Their eyes met and so many things went unsaid;  Their gaze said volumes though as the electric chemistry still seemed to course around them.  How could it still be this potent after all th e things they had done together in the last 8 hours?
Mark opened his mouth to speak just as a huge sound splintered through their silence.  The world suddenly opened up and the sunlight shone through, blinding them both momentarily.
A large figure encased in a massive search and rescue suit appeared at the window and shouted, 'Hey! My name is Dan, and I'll be your rescuer today!'
Their rescue mission was in full force.  Dan calmly explained that they would be removing the window first in order to have room to extract them from the car.  They used a machine that looked rather threatening to Elle who was huddled as far from the window as possible next to Mark.  It whined into action and the window was cut and sort of sucked away.  A lar g e circular hole was created which Dan then spoke through.
'Okay, we need to get you too out now.  I'm going to pass through some protective gear that I'd like you to out on.  We'll then ease you out and get you onto a stretcher.  Now, no telling me you'r e just fine, I don't want any of that.  You get stuck in a landslide, you get checked by a doctor.  No arguments.'
Neither Elle nor Mark argued, they simply followed the straight-talking man's instructions.  Elle was first. She put on the helmet given and padded protective jacket.  She then looped on the harness that would connect her to Dan and she was carefully eased out and through the window where waiting paramedic's quickly took her to the ambulance.
Mark was then removed from the car in the same fashi on.  He was out quickly and put on another stretcher, whisked towards a different waiting ambulance.
Elle tried to sit up from her position on the stretcher she had been ordered to lie on.  The paramedic asked her to lie down and then informed her that she would be taken to a hospital and checked over thoroughly.
'But what about Mark?  Where's Mark?'
'He's being taken to hospital too, he is going in the other ambulance. Don't worry he's just fine,' The paramedic tried to reassure her.
To Elle's distress, she didn't even get to say goodbye or see you soon to Mark. The emergency services just took over and bossed her about.  She was frustrated and found herself pushed into the ambulance before she could object.  'What about Mark?' she he a rd herself exclaim again.  'Where's Mark?'
The ambulance pulled away swiftly and the paramedic bustled around her, fiddling and checking and doing things Elle considered completely unnecessary.  She felt fine!
The paramedic repeated her earlier words, 'Th e other patient will go in the other ambulance.  You can see him at the hospital.' The paramedic's words reassured her slightly and she let herself relax a little.  Closing her eyes she let tiredness encase her banging head.  Exhausted. Her mind was spent, she had barely slept.  They had been too busy doing other things.  Other wonderful things.  Things that had made her body sing with happiness.  She closed her eyes and felt the tiredness creep in.  The paramedic was checking her closely, she was a little delirious, clearly suffering from exhaustion but otherwise seemed fine.  Her brief memory lapse caused by sheer tiredness.
Elle didn't recall the journey to the hospital, she was so tired that she fell fast asleep and didn't surface until she was somewhe re entirely different and foreign.  It seemed that her life and death experience was well and truly over.
