me. Instead, he made me enjoy him. This vampire embraced me, and I accepted each delight as though he were sex incarnate. Even then, he hadn’t actually penetrated me. I swallowed at the thought, my body too exhausted to anticipate how that might feel.
Raymond wrapped his arms around me. He petted my bare back and rubbed the nape of my neck. Each movement of his fingertips was soft and gentle. After so many exertions and burning so much energy, I felt myself relax. Every warrior’s instinct I possessed faded away into nothing.
“What are you going to do?” I asked, blinking quickly just to remain awake.
His lips curved back up into his signature smirk. Raymond moved closer and nuzzled me with the tip of his nose. It was such a gentle, almost intimidate gesture. I didn’t know how to respond, especially when he told me, “I’m going to hold you and keep you safe until you fall asleep.”

    I fell asleep.
It happened within seconds. Of course, I didn’t believe him. He was supposed to kill me or mock my vulnerability. And yet, as the seconds ticked past, he only stroked my back, circling his fingers and knuckles from the small of my back up to the name of my neck. Each soft swipe left relaxed tingles simmering in my skin.
As my pulse steadied and my body settled down, I fell into a strange half-sleep. Then I curled up against the vampire who had kidnapped me. I didn’t understand his plan, and right then I couldn’t care. All of my discipline and determination had been taken away. He had pleasured me in ways I didn’t think possible. I had never orgasmed like that before.
    Surrender came easily.
    I slept deeply.
And when I woke up, my eyelids snapped open.
I thought I would be alone or maybe in some dungeon. Perhaps there would be a monstrous vampire standing over me, fangs bared, soaked in blood and ready to rip me apart. None of that happened.
Instead, I found myself wrapped in sheets with Raymond's arms around me. I didn't try to set up, but he must've felt me shift. "You're awake," he told me.
"Did you think I might not?"
The vampire chuckled and started to pet me again. He worked his palms and fingertips along my shoulders and over to the back of my neck. For an instant there, I might have berated myself for my weakness. After all, I was supposed to hate him and everyone like him. He was both the creature of death and destruction, only he petted me and made me feel really good.
"I did feed nearly enough to cause you any kind of harm. Sure, you got sleepy for a little while, but that was about it." He sat up and shifted around to look down at me, "Are you hungry?"
I haven't been, yet when I thought about it, I realized I was ravenous. It felt as though I hadn't eaten in a very long time. Of course not I thought, the vampire just to drained a significant portion of my strength. Of course I’d be hungry.
The idea of asking him for food twisted my stomach. I had no intention of being beholden to this man. Fortunately for me, he didn't intend to play that game. He told me to set up as he leaned over and grabbed a basket from the end table. He must've put it together while I been asleep. The fact that he'd been able to move around without disturbing me wasn't a surprise, especially thought about his preternatural speed and dexterity.
Surprisingly, the basket was filled with a variety of cut fruit. Cantaloupe, watermelon, and a few chocolate covered strawberries were neatly spaced in the basket. It looked almost romantic, like something a couple might buy to celebrate an anniversary.
"What, no roses?" I teased, happy to have something to throne his face for once. As much as I might have tried to suppress them, the memories of how he manipulated me and seduced me were bright behind my eyes.
He chuckled again. Somehow he didn't sound particularly hurt or intimidated. "You're very cute. And yes, this wouldn’t be my first choice, so let's just say this is the most convenient thing I could get my hands
